Is soulseek anygood for music downloads?
im currently using winmx but it get limited at times. im looking for info on soulseek. any users out there and what are your opinions
hi there, yes soulseek is great for alot of sets and other tunes.
Especially Progressive stuff
Meh.
Tried it for the first time last night.
It was ugly, performed poorly and didn't find any of the tunes I was after.
bah.. can't use the software.
in the start it asks me to choose a server from the list, no server appears on the list, and if I click cancel it gives me a typical illegal operation.
direct connect is the best in the after-AG era.
I find around 50% of the traxx im lookin for, its the next best thing afta DC
DC kicks ass when it works!
I just started using SS and it has worked great for me!
SS is good you just gotta leave it running for a while to get the files you want, because of server problems I think a lotta users think its dead like AG and dunno thats its moved servers.
man ive got about a gig of westbam stuff which was defo not on AG...so its all good for me
I've had few complaints with SS...it's my primary source of music files since the AG shut down, and so far my experience has been a positive one.
Yes, if you're looking for rare tracks it's not nearly as good as AG was, but what do you expect? SS is still a fairly journeyman program, as more people join the community the selection will naturally get better.
I'll put it this way, it's at least worth the trial d/l IMHO...it certainly beats the Gnutella progs in my experience...

soulseek is quite nice, it will get better over time i think. I like how its mostly electronic, i wish i woulda discovered it earlier
Well i only use private ftps now, and i seem to be doing ok, heh
WHO FUCKING CARES, DONT USE KAZAA IST WANK!
Soulseek is quite good especially for live trance video. The only problem is the big queue to download.
where the hell is the installation file to download??
from download.com it just keeps sending me to: http://www.ez-search.com/default.php?stat=yes

You can find a lot, although it takes ages to download......
one problem that will prevent it becoming good QUES
how is it for other types of music? i have to make a few mixed cd's for some of my friends. i haven't even bothered to use anything but the hub to get music for a long time so i'm outta the loop.
SS seems to be decent for electronic music, but if you stray outside that you're not going to find much...due in large part to the fact that SS was initially intended to only be used for electronic music.
There's nothing to prevent people from sharing other stuff, but it becomes a cycle. Only people who're interested in elecronic stuff hear about, and then get SS, and thus that's all that gets shared; which is fine by me, since that's the main thing I'm into these days anyhoo

It's not bad for brand new stuff, but not *great* either. If you're really after brand new stuff the second that it's available the DC hub is probably a better bet.
That said, stuff does tend to distribute pretty quickly on SS, I got the 4 "Yet Another Day" mixes, the AvB Positron Mix, and the two mixes of Sunspot almost immediately after reading about their release here, so sometimes it's really good.
A lot of it depends on if you luck out and get songs queued up before the line gets 500 deep...that kind of depth wouldn't be too much of an issue if you're running on broadband but for people like myself on normal shite 56k modems it can be difficult to get songs from the more popular users.
Thankfully I'll be on broadband sometime in the next two weeks, more choones for me...heh

is it any good for goatrance?
