I never knew it was a genre in itself, I've always though that it was just Goa trance, but thanks to Oakey's Glow in the Dark I'm interested in building my collection with some cool trance tracks that have a rich acid sound, post your favourites!

A few recent favourites:
I've been hearing a lot of acid in trance recently, which for me can only be a good thing. Nothing sounds better on a dancefloor when you're mangled than a screaming acid line.

The whole album, Visions Of Sound, is outstanding. Acid-soaked, no-nonsense trance from start to finish.

Why am I not already aware of that?! Will definitely check that out! Cheers

It isn't acid just because there's a 303 in there.

To me, an acid sound is a low range synthesized sound with a distinct, rapid filter cutoff modulation, plus a high filter resonance.
But then again, I'm one of those people who think of chemical protonation when I hear the word 'acid', rather than the drug with the same name.
But if we know what acid music sounds like, what does alkaline music sound like?

Acid is the sound of the TB-303 and its various emulators and imitators, particularly when they're being tweaked. We had this debate before, and your side lost.

No, and no.
And I've never been part of any debate on this. At least not here.
To say that "Acid is the sound of the TB-303 and its various emulators and imitators, particularly when they're being tweaked" is like saying soccer is 22 men running around a field. Sure, they're on a field, and they are running, but there's a little bit more going on.
There are shitloads of tracks that have tb-303s that are being tweaked, and it doesn't even sound like acid.

So are you going to be forthcoming with exactly what you think acid means, or will it forever remain a secret?

I hope the acid-line rebuttal goes for 10 pages so I have something interesting to read again in the MD.

Not with that attitude!

Check all of Formic Acid (Kai Tracid). My favorite is Eternia, but I posted it too often.
Also check Nostrum (best known for Brainchild).

One I found a couple of months back, rather dark and ambient!

Can someone please help me? Why is dj misjah & dj tim - access classified as acid trance? I thought it was acid techno.
Posted by SYSTEM-J on Mar-19-2012 21:43:
I don't think Access is trance at all. It has been a big cross-over record with trance DJs, though.

Appreciate the help. Tiesto put this track in an old mix.

Just out of curiosity, what would you guys classify this as:

Ahm, acid hard trance perhaps? The pads around 1:55 takes it towards that end of the spectrum for me. I've heard the term Acid Core being flung around before and maybe this an example of that it but I wouldn't know

At the same compilation to me Wink Higher State Of Consciousness (DJ Wink's Hardhouse Mix) wasn't really trance, but that's maybe also because I don't like it.
Well, at least it's far from a real trance track like Genetic Line - Blue Sky.
By the way, I guess Scooter Friends (Jeyenne Remix) is a good example of a lot of 303 without being really acid.
This one is, but again not very trancy though:
For give me, I couldn't resist and know people here don't like them, but they did use the most uplifting 303 sound IMO starting at 2:37 :
