tracks that go nicely together

Hi there.. im having trouble putting tracklists together. I am looking for tunes that go well together and more importantly tunes that fit nicely when changin style all of a sudden. I'll explain what i mean.

I like to start my sets with tracks such as Moonshine, Solar Coaster, Epic Monolith etc. and then move onto tracks more uplifting such as Dreamland, Can U Feel, etc. and then bring in some epics such as Binary Finary 1999 before finishing of hard with energetic tracks from more harder artist. But i am finding it very hard to make the transition from Set Starters --> Uplifting --> Epic --> Hard/Energetic and finding vital tracks that can do this.

Any recommendations on how i shud go about doing this.. or recommendations on tracks that fit nicely together.

Hope ive made myself clear on what i need help with.

Thanks in advace (and aplogies if i hav put this in wrong forum. i was debating between here or the amater section but the description on this forum said mixing techniques so i chose here I hope i hav done rite)

Mikey

If you want soothing songs...

use Solar Stone - Seven Cities (Armin Vocal Mix) which is good to start off with since it has a intro...you'll need to mix in a song with the same beat....i tried to mix it into solid sessions but it didn't go well...but it goes...

use Jurgen Vries - The Theme (Original Mix)....obviously raise the tempo since this song is slow...

or you can replace Jurgen Vries to Armin Van Buuren - Yet Another Day...

and im not gonna tell you a tracklisting....If you can't be creative with your mind, mixing and song selection then Djing isn't your job.

Fragma - Everytime you need me (Above & Beyond remix)

I got totally off when I listened to pvd live @ mayday 2002...

Mixing Misja Helsloot - First Second (Original Mix) with Tillmann Uhrmacher - On The Run (Ocean To Shore Club Mix)... I was cuming all over my room!

I suggest you listen to that set, it has many styles of music in it!You might get some cool ideas!

the mix from revelation into 10in1 on tiesto's dancevalley mix is a sweet combo. He fucked it up of course, but it does sound super sweet.

a massive................. 2 months! lol

i suggest trying tunes that have a weaker beat in them at the beginning, if your finding the transition hard.

i use tunes with weak beats in them if my beatmatching aint happening.

works for me, might not for you.

also try

Klea - Tic toc (Magik Muzik Remix) into Breeze ft. DJ Peran - Out of my Life

i find these two tunes go together really well cuz they're both in the same 'key'

Any, so long as they're relatively in key. If you're good enough you can mix anything, though. It's all about knowing the tracks.

heres something i do ,not sure if anybody does this:

i write down my tracklist as i spin, and everytime i put on a new track, when i fade them in i give a small synopsis of how the songs went together.i have my own rating system to establish how they went together, then use these as notes i can pull up to see what i'd like to mix together when i'm playing new sets.it also gives me a good idea of songs that might be close enough sounding in beat for me to try to mix them.(like two songs go great and i notice on one of my earlier playlists that i mixed one of the songs with something different a couple of weeks ago, so i try that song and next thing you know i got three songs that go well together!) heres some songs i found went well together:

Josephine 2002(Delerious instrumental mix) into Out Of The Blue 2002

Lethal Industry(C.J. Stone remix) into Space(from Slipmatt)

Massive(Mirco De Govia remix)into Do U Know(Silverblue remix)

Heres two that i'm really enjoying right now due to there pitches being completly oppisite:

Janeiro(Armin Van Burren remix) into Down Under(Komakino vs Mind X sunrise mix)

dont hav any of those tracks to try. But i like the idea of keeping a pad to write down tunes that went well together. Definitely gonna give that a try

That's the fuckin' idea! Knowing the tracks iside out, will make you better in djing, in composing and in dancing! Oh yeah, chicks will go crazy if you are a good dancer and know how to dance a track! E.g. There where there is no bass and no melody, count and bounce when the 1st bass comes in! heh! that's cool!

Also helps you in sex... you get a "beat"

Posted by MClarke on Sep-18-2002 23:41:

maybe it would be a good idea to make this thread sticky? so we can all post tunes which go well together, create a kinda database thing...

Mikey Mike...you lucky bastard!!! Haha, I'm gonna keep giving you shit for all the badass tunes you have. Just my way of having fun.

Seriouslly though........

Ballroom - Passenger (Marc O' Tool Remix) ----> Leama - Melodica (Original Melodic Mix)

You can go from one to the other, it doesn't matter, although I like starting with Ballroom. These songs were made for each other

Peace man...good luck too!!!!!

01. Members of Mayday - 10 in 1 (PVD Club Mix)
02. Utah Saints - Lost Vagueness (Oliver Lieb Mix)

Check it out and cum...
