Does this evidence suggest a tragedy is looming?

maybe.. maybe not.

I don't know how it works at you're school, but I'm guessing he'll be reprimanded in some way. I don't see him getting expelled for it -- more likely, he'll be forced to go to some sort of anger management counseling

None of this stuff is necessarily the making of a mass-shooter. Lots of people have problems with authority but the way he's escalating the issue, sharing it with a group of people who would be most likely to sympathize with him, could be taken a couple of different ways.

The good way is that it's just malicious retribution or even commiseration. He's reaching out to people saying, "See how I'm being persecuted, here?!?" Misguided and awkward - definitely - but not necessarily the end of the world. The concerning way is that it's a veiled threat. He could be saying, "When something bad happens, here's why and you can't say you didn't know."

Be nice to him.

I'd say having a degree in journalism is punishment enough

Unless everyone else starts slagging him off for his idiotic behaviour, I'd say students are safe. As a former teacher, I can assure you that there's ALWAYS a student that will find a way to turn even the tiniest thing into a flamefest even when they're obviously in the wrong (such as this guy). Nothing abnormal.
