Armin Was Amazin...

For those of ya'll who weren't at Aria, in montreal, this past Friday, sorry but you really missed out..first off, the club was a decent venue...the main dance hall was nice and the five large screens,displaying tripped out video feeds and at times live feeds of the crowd, that were setup up around the dance floor was pretty cool...but the lights were seriously lacking and was pretty weak...anyhow, this was my first time seein armin live....what can i say...it was amazing...if you ever seen a dj spin a 4 hour set, there is normally atleast one or two moments where you would drift away from the music to have a thought but Armin's set was non-stop amazment...after Armin dropped "for an angel" remix, by who im not sure, about an hour in, the crowd really just went nuts...he drilled the crowd with more great fukin bass and continued to drive the crowd into hysteria literally every ten minutes with the music building back up...when the music was silent, every single person on the dance floor just stopped and stared at Armin to see what he would do next...it was truly an amazing scene when literally, every single person in the club stops and freezes only to let AVB drive them into more hysteria with incredible build ups...but when armin dropped "ligaya" onto the crowd, the party seemed to just start over again with even more intensity...what sucked was everyone knew armin would be done in only a few minutes, seein that his 4 hours were almost up....but naturally, the crowd chanted in unison for one more song and armin delivered with an extra 30 minutes of great unanticipated music...all in all, i've been to several great sets in my life and i just became a huge armin fan cuz of this past friday's performance..."simply amazing" is what i seemed to utter throughout his set...i kept thinking, he's got to play one fill track or just a played out song but it never happened...i kept on being pleasantly surprised by Armin till the last note of his last vinyl for the night...

Armin also came in Quebec City last Saturday and he was so great. He plays couple of of classic as Solar Stone - Seven Cities and Energie 52 -Cafe del Mar. For 3 hours I was flying. And than the other Patrick DSP came out with is acid techno...DAMN why people in Quebec like it HARD???

Good to hear you guys had a blast.I myself can't wait to check him out in DC on Sept. 7th. It's been so long...I've seen him about 4 times now and he always drops a sick set. He's cool too... Last time I saw him was in June.....yeah, 'bout that time he comes BACK! hehehee

I remember when he was going to come to dallas....but the fucking cops shut it down...THOSE BASTARDS!!!!

well it was the first time i've ever seen AVB and it definitely won't be my last....words just can't describe the feelings...but ya'll get the message...i only wonder if it could ever be duplicated since the night was soooooooooo amazing....i'll just have to go and see..

I love Armin, he kicks off the night with such pleasure. His easy flowing attitude throughout his sets makes a crowd go wild...especially the females.

Cant wait to hear him spin at Godksitchen Closing Party at Amnesia, been waiting all summer for this one!!!

it was one of the best parties I ever attended! I even filmed the party... there will be some movie clips soon on aria's website.

jparknyc, the lights at Aria doesn't suck at all, I've seen them in full effect and let me tell you they are amazing. But, people kept complaining that they felt "bombarded" by lights (which tires the eyes) and the light engineer now tries to follow the music and keep the intensity at minimum. Also, people at Aria wants it to keep its "underground" feeling by minimizing the lights... I love the lights but after being there for a dozen times now I can tell you that I prefer it now than before. The lights were so fast and intense I kept closing my eyes, at 9am its not that fun having full light in your face!

Anyways you can do lots of stuff in the dark

malek, ur right...i only stess the lights cuz clubs in the states are all into that shiet...i guess it is excessive and until i learned ur point of view, plus everyone else in montreal feeling the same, i realize how commercial it is also...it definitely does feel more "underground" and it should stay that way...i've only been there once, as opposed to a dozen times for you, and i guess i would feel the same as well...i love the mechanics and layout but i was comparing the club to commercial clubs...i guess i made a mistake bout that and shouldn't have...in anycase, the lights are really irrelevant when great dj's are spinnin a set...i could;ve watched armin with fukin disco ball and a dinky strobe and it would've still been amazing..

and u know the dark is definitely better...that i can't stress enough at times...hehehe...oh the dirty minds...

and trust me, i hope to be back as soon as i can....

Hahaha... did you know that a few blocks away from Aria there's this after hour called Stereo and has only a huge discoball for a light system? People live and die for that place man! Its house all the way tho and has its own hardcore clientele. Its reknown to have the best sound system in Nort America ( I'll have to hear it before believing this).

hahaha...its ironic..i went to stereo my first time in montreal...about a year and a half ago...it was all house all night...mah friends and i were stayin at st. adrian hotel, right around the corner from stereo so it seemed the logical choice for the evening...the sound was good and the club had no lights...ur right bout that malek...but there were so many gino's, or meat-heads as we refer to them in the states, but i think that should've been expected since the majority of the crowd was gay...i had a blast anyways...they were very kind and respected the fact that i was str8...met a few awesome clubbers also...all in all, it was an ok club...mah friends and i just lounged and admired the club from the lounge room located upstairs with a small rectangle cut-out in the wall that overlooked the dance floor...it was chillz...but as for the best sound system in north america?...hmmm...i don't think so...i think for me as of now the top 3 would be:
1. Twilo, NYC ( too bad it shut down )
2. Aria, Montreal
3. Soundfactory, NYC (i pick this 3rd cuz i like rip roarin bass in ur face and its amazingly clear...whoa)

and bout OCTOBER..im there...im organizing the next trip for montreal....haven't decided which set to attend...prolly either sasha or corsten...i don't know yet cuz corsten's date is not set yet at the aria website...anyhow, it'll definitely be one of those...i haven't been feelin picotto lately...too much industrial techno and a lot less trance...don't get me wrong, i like techno but not in abundance...feel the same way towards house, thats why i can't go to stereo all night...also, as the date gets closer for those events, lets talk bout the video cuz i want to buy it when im there...cool?...that is if its complete by then...lemme know malek...

there's a rumour floating around that Picotto would play the same night as Corsten on a sunday night (thanksgiving next day for us canadians).


As for the video, I'm not talking about it cause obviously its far from being ready Video editing isn't my trade and its very hard for me to do it... I'm working hard on it tho and hope it would be out sometime reasonable. I can always send it to you by mail, don't worry about it!

yeah i heard that rumor bout picotto and corsten together on same night also...omg, if that happens then that would be the weekend i come up...but would that happen sometime in october?...is thanksgiving for canadiens in october?...im aiming to see corsten cuz i only saw him once in avalon, boston a few months back and he rocked that club...i saw sasha several times when he used to perform wit digweed at twilo so im more anxious for corsten...and as for picotto, i already explained in prior post...but if corsten and picotto spin together, shiet, thats like a two for one special...hehehe...i know the entrance fee would be bumped up but definitely well worth it...


and as for the video, take ur time...i didn't want to sound like i was rushing you or anything...i always believe good things come to those who wait so patience is always good...and i understand how u feel bout video editing...im not all that good with that either....so just take as long as u need and if u want to charge, i will gladly pay for it...its well worth the money...shiet, it would be an exclusive...hehehe...what more could i ask for...but ur tha man malek, thx for all that ur doin...
