File Sharing Programs That Won't Get Blocked?...

I go to SDSU now, but in my dorms they have blocked all type of file-sharing programs (i.e. Kazaa, DC, Morpheus, Gnutella, etc.).

Is there anyway I can get around this, be it other programs that won't be detected or something along those lines? Thanks.

i dunno id think your screwed looks like you have to use IRC or something because i dont know of any ways to really get around it the firewall is for everything so dunno.....try edonkey, www.edonkey2000.com

In DC, you could try changing ports..

Get tunneling software such as httptunnel and socks2http. You might want to get sockscap32 as well for making dc work.

I know for those that are still in dorms in my school experience this sort of problem nowadays. Since we are a pretty big school, you can imagine how much pirated music goes around so RIAA actually contacted the school and asked them to enforce this. Although our school doesnt go around TRYING to crack on students, they do monitor from time to time and if they find an offender, they send an email to the student to stop and if the student continues, then he will be brought up to the school's judicial system and you could be suspended.

So dont even try. Its not worth it when it jeopardizes with college.

You could always use DC or have a friend upload it somewhere on the web like www.myplay.com. You can upload up to 3 gigs worth of music up there and you can download it onto your computer.

Alot of ftps piss me off cuz I have to upload alot to get credit to be able to access the downloads. Im no leech but my terrible comcast cable blows. 1way cable meaning Dl @cable speed but upload @phoneline.

im pretty damn sure that changing ports does zero.. because when dc initially tries to connect to the hub it always uses 411 or 412... i say this because at work, those ports are blocked, and it didnt matter what i did, i cant get on dc (tho i was trying in active mode like a dumbass). well, and the issue is... if you are in passive mode, you dont have control over what port you use. if he was in active mode he could try doing this, but if you are at work, school, etc.. you will be on a lan thus, you cant change the port anyways, and then if the port it uses (411 or 412, i forget) is blocked, you are fucked.

as far as using software to get past the firewalls... careful yo. if you do this at a university, you can have criminal charges slapped on you (depending on what school, and how rigid they are on it)

perhaps try irc as well, im not sure if it is a default port or not.
