Escape Velocity - Acid Techno

HI there

Would love some feedback on this one ...

It's an old school acid techno tune that makes use of the Phoscyon 303 emulator made by D16.

The hook is one of those high end plucky affairs that was common in the late 90's/early 00's.

Yes, definitely one of those tracks from 2000's lol - lot's of elements in your production to like for and very characteristic for this style and sound use in this particular time

And the most imported part is that "I like it" - this track makes me younger again lol.

Thanks for the kind comments - it is definitely of a time but I think it's important that the spirit of this era is kept alive ...

Trance was far more underground back then and it shows in the music of that time!!

I was well into Billy Nasty back in the day and your'e 303 work reminds me a lot of that.
There's nothing wrong with this, BUT, much as I'm all for keeping a musical era alive, it needs new interpretation.

This is how I see it. You could make a great film closely resembling lets say The Birds or The Abyss, but the watcher will say "where's something new here, that I haven't already seen before, where's the spin on an old idea"

I'm warry about this feedback as I'm no artisan myself, but this is what I feel from the heart. Do what your'e doing but with new production values, new and radical ideas - unless that is this is just a personal journey and f all to do with validation and apprecation by others, in which case I will quietly admire.

IF you want my 'artistic' input I'd try and meld bang up to the minute techno beats (which are extremely difficult to do properly and should not be something one finds easy) with your 303 work, but with some new interpretation oif the classic 303 styles.

Having said all this I genuinely enjoyed the listen and get a sense you loved making this, so please dont for a second be thrown by this slightly critical post.

I take on board what you say and you're right, this is (deliberately) anchored in that time. For example, the use of a organ based sound in the breakdown rather than some modern synths string based affair.

I did have fun with but that said, it's the first project I've made with the 303 emulator I mentioned and there are going to be more. in future, I would like to integrate the use of this with more up to date production and general sound.

It's will be a tough cookie to crumble as you say because production values have moved on immensely in the intervening years (as evidenced by the wealth of obvious creativity behind the multitude of tunes on this board alone!!)

It sort of is a personal journey but I'm sereious about it. I'm all 'grown up', have a little boy and a 'proper' job and everything and life is good if I'm honest. However, something huge happened to all of us that was involved in the dance music revolution from '87 to early 2000's (my years were 95 - 02) and the history should not get lost. I'm just doing my little part in keeping that spirit alive. I don't care what people say, it's not the same now, not in the UK at least!

I see you're not too far from me, if you're up to something that may benefit from my Live PA (I play the drum parts live on an electronic kit) - let me know.

PS - I once randomnly shared a ***** with Billy Nasty in the Coven 2 nightclub in Oxford (obviously before the smoking ban). It's a strip club now ... Ho Hum
