Pioneer Mixers

I'm buying a new mixer and i am drawn betweent the djm-600 and the djm-3000. Can anyone offer any advice on which one would be a better mixer. I'm leaning towards the 600 cos it would fit better in my set up space wise. Any suggestions

i have the 600 and luv it to pieces

i really like how everything is setup....there is enough room to get ur fingers on those EQs, etc.

i have not used the 3000 so i cannot give u my opinion on that

what i can say is...the DJM600 is an awesome mixer, and if you purchased it i dont think you'll regret it

I've got the 3000 and it does take a lot of space compared to the 600. I really chose it cos i got a great price on it and they couldn't get the 600 for a while. It's got three extra effects if your into that sort of thing, but i think the sampler on the 600 is a better deal than the extra effects. Best thing about it is the space between things if your a bit clumsy like me. And it's a lot cheaper too.

does the 3000 not have a sampler?

Posted by hey cheggy on Sep-04-2002 05:30:

No sampler. That's why i want the 600. The mixer i have at the moment has a sampler but the sound quality is about the same as an old tape

pioneer mixers=over rated

search around

and you'll know it's over priced

ok it's quality , I won't deny it

but it's so over rated and you can't do shit with it .... there's a world outside the djm 600s

Yeah, I'm well aware of the other mixes out there, but i have a good reason for buying pioneer over vesrax or Allan & Heath.

Posted by Lanithium on Sep-04-2002 09:56:

get the 600, i have it and love it. i tried the 3000 when i was buying a new mixer... and i really didnt like the way its layed out.. too cramped, plus it takes up too much room

man!
you all got pioneer mixers for 1000$ and for what??? to mix at home!?!?!?!? give me a break!
I got my mixer for 140$ (Phonic mixer) over 2 years ago and I'm very satisfied with it........
but on the other hand, I'm a mobile DJ and a bedroom DJ....... so I don't really do clubs..... I mean, do you get those things to get used to the applications in the clubs?? or what???

I'm sorry.... I just don't see the reason why waste 1000$ on top gear if you're using it only at home...........
anyone care to explain?

So when one day ur m8 comes over and goes "fuck man, ur a god" and u realise its time to send off that tape to a club u've alrdy got experience with the top end mixers.

waste? what?

to me djing is a passion. I dont think it was a waste of money. It was an investment. One that I would do again if I had to go back in time.

I wanted the mixer before I even knew that Pioneer made dj equipment...i can remember watching some guy spin and he had this beautiful looking mixer with a silver finish. I can remember telling myself that i was going to one day have it.

Ive had 2 mixers before my DJM600 and they were ok...but nothing compared to my 600

When you touch the DJM's (any of them) it is like nothing you have ever used b4. The 600 in my opp is the best.

As for club mixing......I have not been to a club yet in the US that uses the pioneer mixers. All (at least in the milwaukee and chi town area) use Rane mixers. They are very very expensive........but....the faders and EQ's are un believable. I Love my DJM 500 (only cause I have black techs and it looks soo nice)

If you are a bedroom DJ that plans on expanding at a later time, the 600 is great if you have the wallet to support it.

My oppinoin on the 3000. I think pioneer did this so they actually had a 19" rack mixer that could be mounted w/o the extra plates that the 500/600 has.

Anywho. Still a killer mixer. Clean EQ, easy slope to scratch and all and very precise sampler. The 600's is much cleaner and precise.

Well, i went out and bought it today. Man, I actually drewled on it when playing with it. Managed to get $400 bucks off which was nice. It's pretty damn nice but i'm still trying to figure out how everything works. I finsihed step 1 in the instructions which was cover BPM counter with white out.

Hehe you know you can turn off the BPM right? White doesn't match the dark gray of the mixer.

which one did u get?

Posted by hey cheggy on Sep-05-2002 14:55:

ahh, i got the 600, mainly cos of the spacial issues. I don't really have enough room for a 19" mixer.

How much did you get it for? I'd just like to know how mucht hey are in the Eastern States.. the 600 and 3000 here is around $1900-2000... and if you did have the space for the 3000, you would get use to its size after a while as my friend has. The 3 new effetcs are very useful.. but anyway, congrats on the 600

Posted by hey cheggy on Sep-06-2002 08:04:

I was quoted $2,300 for the 600. Pioneer put the price up for them.

The prices i got were $1,900 for the 600 and was offered the 3000 for $1,700.

Posted by _Nut_ on Sep-06-2002 14:57:

Before i freak out over the price. What is the conversion from Aust $ to US $??

Just wanna see how fair the prices are around the world

Posted by DJ LIQUID on Sep-06-2002 16:49:

I bought my DJM600 for $978USD after taxes

they cut me a killer deal

Posted by hey cheggy on Sep-07-2002 05:49:

$978 us is about $1,900 australian.

Posted by spectra on Sep-07-2002 22:12:

the cheapest i've ever seen a DJM-600 in the UK is 495, i'm not sure what that converts too in USD, but its pretty cheap,

Posted by Tom_cowan on Sep-09-2002 12:24:

Iv got the 500, had it for over a year now and its awesome, not just because of the nice faders and eqs but the effects are awesome once you tame them and know when to use them. Once you get the balance between using them to much or not using them you can get a lot more creative with your mixing. On the 500, decay n flanger are sweet when used well, having said that there shit when used badly ie scot project live at ssl, KILL THAT FLANGER!!!! I think the best tip is try and use effects while your in the mix, you can often use them to compliment build ups or to highlight changes in tune.
