Beatport sees enough potential to setup Sounds/To/Sample
this is the nail in the coffin of EDM......

EDM degraded itself to an Apple type App Store

There's already dozens of websites like this.

They're only selling soundsets and samplepacks, which are the cornerstone of all EDM really.

Well apart from soundsets for the select few that bother learning to program synths.

point is, beatport sees enough potential to invest, so it's big.. as big as buying tracks

You are right and you should give up making music.

Why stop making music? maybe it's more interesting to start making "contruction kits" and "midi packs"

Sounds to sample exists for (I think) over 2 years now. It's just been under the radar all the time. Now that Beatport is promoting all its platforms actively it might have become a bit more apparent they do more than you might thing. I've bought several packages from there months ago. There's a lot of goodness in there.

I think the point is, that beatport itself is small enough in relative terms to consider this as a good revenue stream.

It's demographic is not mainstream consumers - it's hobbyist and pro DJ's as well as producers. Therefore it stands to reason that Beatport would want to sell samples to this demographic.

what "investment" are you talking about? setting up a website? the running costs of a digital store are laughable. they don't have to a sell a lot of this shit to be profitable.

I agree with you and Raphie. Even though the investment part might be neglible, it would be retarded if they didn't get involved in this market as well. It's so closely related to what they do already... Profit margins would be huge on this for every sold copy indeed.

Free royaltie samples have been existing for long, there are famous tracks that consist in a sample, for example Steve Angello - Knas , it's not a big problem if only a select few use them and build a good track around it, same like midis, if you use a midi kit as a starting point for your track and develop it is just fine, if the next month you see 1000 tracks with the same melody then we're all fucked up.
