Software amps?

Is there software that properly amplifies sound?

i used to have an amp for my headphones on my PC but I don't have it anymore and looking for a quick fix that WORKS.

thanks,

You won't be able to get software that amplifies sound unless you want to alter the sound to be more compressed and distorted.

Whatever juice your soundcard from your computer can crank out, that's essentially as loud as it gets.

what he meant was that no matter how you increase rms loudness, the noise will increase with it making it essentially the same. Louder but really no louder than it was in relation to the noise. A free audio editor , can't remember the name but look for rms normalizing rather than peak.
