I say "Gesundheit". How did this come into play? I heard that it means "God Bless You" in German (Deutsch) but, is this really true? Plus, what made it the preferred foreign-to-the-English-language response?

Actually, that's "nas-da-rov-ia"
In hebrew it's pronounced as "la-bri-ut"

Nope, 'Gesundheti' in German actually means 'health'

Well, why do so many people say it if it just means the word "health"? So, my comversation might look like this when translated?:
Person A: [Asks question or finishes a statement]
Person B: (Sneezes) [afterward, responds]
Person A: Health (Gesundheit)!

What do the Germans REALLY say when someone sneezes? I mean, what's the most common thing you hear right after someone sneezes?

They DO say Gesundheit (health). And like exetik stated Israelis say La-briut which translated also mean "for the health".
think it makes sense as u could see the sneezing as a first symptome of an upcoming illness..so..u em..say Gesundheit to..em..Block it
