Thumbs up

Get your hands on these if you make your own music , Sony MDR-7509 if you have a pair you know what I`am talking about , they are the best studio headphones {5-30,000hz} 50mm drivers , Neodymium magnet for superior bass response and sensitivity 108db , Amorphous diamond evaporated diaphragm provides natural sound production .

Word on the 7509s, but for DJing purposes I find that they don't have good enough outside noise attenuation ... excellent studio headphones though (but not the best ones ...).

If you think they aren`t what are then

the Pio's SE-DJ5000 have the best isolation from all the headphones, I've used, which includes these, the MDR-V700DJ's and Technics DJ1200

The phones I'm using right now and my fav. are the Ixos MOS DJ1001, if not for anything (because all these headphones are quite the same in features, and comfort except for the 700DJ's) but sheer sound quality, integrity(no exaggeration) and clarity, which IMHO make these the best from the lot.

Satan (eek!)

I use the sony v700s.. quite good but not as comfy as the HD 25.. They do matter if you gonna wear them for 5-6 hours!

Why do you guys go on about the sony's. You guys are short changing yourself big time by NOT USING SENNHEISERS.

First of all, listen to the sennheiser's then compare, big difference. It doesn't sound like your listening to it in the headphones, IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR HEARING IT WITHOUT THE HEADPHONES, do you guys have any idea what this means? YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING easier to your ears.

secondly, it weighs less then half of what any sony's weigh but produces the loudest, clearest, biggest sound you'll ever hear. It's a pain in the *ss when your spinning for over 2 hours and you got some big heavy vice like headphone on your head.

I just got the sennheiser's and man, do I feel stupid for using sony's and pioneer's for the last year.

i took alook at the SENNHEISER headphones and DAMN.... those things are fuckin HUGE heh. i might have to try a pair of them. I often find myself not being able to hear the record i'm cueing in with my sony MDR-700's. which obviously SUCKS. thanks for the advice.

Posted by djVersus on Apr-16-2001 00:27:

I'm talking about the sennheiser hd25 or the hd25 sp1.

Posted by skywarp on Apr-16-2001 01:03:

DJ Pete: for studio reference headphones you should take a look at the high-range Sennheisers (electrostatic headphones maybe ? Orpheus ... they are crazy expensive though). Stax also makes some very high quality headphones (Stax SRS-4040). Also Sony makes an excellent headphone the MDR-R10. All these models would be superior to the 7509. But again, there is no such thing as the "best" headphone (or any other piece of sound equipment for that matter) - it always depends what you're looking for ...

DjVersus: yeah, the Sennheiser HD25 are simply amazing ... they cost quite a bit more than the Sony or Technics but the first time you put them on you know why ... hehe ...

Well I'm using the technics 1200, unfortunately. Me and a couple of friends got these when they were new, because it has a TECHNICS on it. But you know what ? Thechnics makes great turntables, and that's it.
Everybody's headphone stopped playing on the left channel after a little more than a year or so, depending on usage. That's because they made the speakers adjustable and put the cable in there in such a stupid way that it breaks.
I'm still using mine because I only need one channel, but I expected more quality for my $. Next one I'm getting is definitely the Sennheiser.
