Getting close to finishing this track, Need some feedback for final touches

I've been working on this track for too long now and I need to get it finished, so what final touches need to be put on it?? Please give some feedback, I would really like to get a good idea of where this track is at.

The Plucks around 1.40 are clashing with your midbass, sounds very messy.
The piano in the breakdown sounds pretty bad, you aiming for that old distorted sound?

3.40 mark the S/C pad is crappy and once the song starts up again at 4.20, your mids are screamming to be mixxed properly.

5.20 mark you keep going with the same old sound, extremly boring.

This song is unnecessarily long. Only part which is good is your breakdown.

Just move onto a new project.

the tune is all good mate but you have some mixing issues but you will only get better in time like the rest of us.

Yeah, mixing, EQ issues... bottom and mid are really muddy, the kick is just a little bump, needs to come through more. Much more, and have punch.

You need to be patient so you don't disappoint yourself. Six months after I started producing I sent some demos out. They were good for how long I had been producing but were not close to being professional yet (and obviously 2 years in I am still in the learning process). I was really disappointing when they were politely rejected but later realized how unrealistic it was to expect to be ready that quickly.

Your production shows promise and ability but any A&r would immediately hear lots of problems that would not be worth their time to try to work through. It takes time to be able to mix a track. I will point out right away that the drums you use are too dated and don't sound good. Even in uplifting trance, they have updated the drums they use. Here is a current uplifting track. I don't know anything about it other than that RAM is a major uplifting artist and this is a very recent release. You will notice the drums are not kick/hihat/kick/hihat/kick/hihat/kick
but more complex and modern.




Keep at it but just move your expectations back a year or two so you don't get frustrated! You are doing well for 16 or whatever it is you are.

Thanks for this. and i already have a back-up label called Daytona-Records, (if i cant get this song on any other label). however they are just a small label, so the music I publish on there barely gets any notice.

And thanks for the YouTube vid. I'm always gonna be a classic Trance fan, but I can definitely take some ideas from this track.

I've changed the EQ'ing on the low end quite a bit, so i hope you notice a difference in the new version of the track.

Thanks for this. Since reading this, I've taken the sidechain out of the pad at the 3:40 mark and generally tried to fix the EQ'ing as much as possible.

Hope you notice a difference in the newer version

i listen through it and 1 major thing u need to do is cut the lows of so many sounds, and PAN!!!

The pluck midi you have near the start of the track could make a great lead with some variation, much better than the massive saw pad your using.
I'd make some kind of Jochen Miller style lead, like what he used in Red Out.

Work on your arrangement, its too long. Or bring something totally new in after 48 bars of the lead playing

liking the idea of this tune but things are to drawn out and for the listener it gets boring try working on the arrangement a Little bit more

I did as much panning as I could, its just that I had too many elemnts and by the time I realised that these things were wrong with the track, It was too late to fix it.

Don't worry about releases man, just worry about improving your monitoring situation and staying persistent about learning new things and practicing ideas. Getting on a label isn't important, improving the quality of your productions is. Don't fret though, things can only get better since you're a young lad starting out. Pace yourself.

Well good news is that I have been offered a non-exclusive deal to release this song on a new label that has a fb page with over 156 000 fans, and also, I can assure u that my current track that I'm working on is 100x better than this. I've sent it to a few of my producer friends over skype and they've said that the EQ'ing is basically perfect. I'll upload a demo to soundcloud soon.

So even though i was pretty happy with this track, things are still on the up for me, which keeps me motivated

don't expect critical feedback from friends.

Meh, i've had good feedback from Trance fans that dont produce, so I'm happy with it all, even tho there are some errors in the track.

True, but I only have a couple of friends that are producers and give me any feedback, so most of it just comes from random ppl around the world.
