new Mac pro

Although with my latest experiments with thunderbolt, the one thing that sort of made them necessary for certain audio applications that being storage has been mitigated. But still, will probably get one just because raphie can't.

if he were ice scream, he would be non fat vanilla. It isn't that i dislike him, i just find nothing to like. He is banal beyond measure, the kind of person that is just so boring that his existence is just kinda redundant. And his whole mastering thing, and pretty much his entire music endeavour is embarrassing because he tries so hard but is just so bad. I suppose i just find people like that depressing. Like how does one become so rucking boring.
I'm predicting 16-core Mac Pro's. There are Xeon Sandy Bridge CPU's with 8 cores. So a dual Xeon Mac pro is 16 cores
I wish they'd reduce the cost somewhat.
The absolute bare bones machine is $3.5k here.
Mac mini Servers look tasty for the price with HDMI/Firefire and Thunderbolt ports, and people have managed to install OSX 10.6.8 instead of the buggy Lion Server.
Fair enough, no PCI slots but still. 2 HD's in the little box and a Quad-core - either that or Hackintosh.
Hopefully they'll announce upgrades to the Mini's in tomorrows announcement.

Wont waste your time with the new Mac Pro updates.. No USB3/thunderbolt or upgraded GPU, just some faster CPU's and a bit more ram... Apple's well on their way to killing the Pro market just to make money on Maps, Angry Bird and iPads.
iPad and Garageband it is then.
it hasn't been released yet. The one you are looking at is from 2010.
Er. Check here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1383686
and here: http://store.apple.com/us_smb_78313/browse/home/shop_mac/family/mac_pro
same unit as was sold in 2010. identical.
jesus, lol you are right. Now that is funny.
It appears they are letting it die rather than putting it to sleep.
Ohhh ohhhh, perhaps there will be an iMac Pro
/the only people that really need a mac pro now are graphic artists due to the video card requirements. The imac is pretty much as powerful as the mac pro and with thunderbolt, storage is no longer an issue.
Exactly. They'll probably update the iMac later this year with Ivy Bridge so the geekbench marks will get closer to the MacPro's.
The new macbook pro's are tasty looking, but don't look upgradeable. Can't upgrade the ram/hd's - get what you're given basically which means if one component fails, then you're screwed.

yep, shit scam with the soldered components. We'll see... They look hot though. Boss was telling me I needed to get rid of my stupid not-mac because it can't do anything good according to him. Ignorance is bliss. He said we would talk about it later. Only debatable if I can get him to pay for it. Otherwise i'm not interested up until the moment I don't know what else to spend my money on.
The screen resolution on the MBP is huge and apps need to be updated otherwise you'll get 2x blocks.. I guess they'll update Logic Pro to 9.1.8 soon then.
Geekbench marks are stonking. Put's my hackintosh to shame.

Eh, I don't really want screens to get more HD. Can hardly see anything already due to how tiny everything is at current resolutions. Have you ever looked at Kontakt's edit screens?
