Glad to see Diggers being way up there. Such a chill and humble guy
Seems fairly accurate I suppose. I wonder how they determined these figures tho.
I have my doubts on the accuracy of this. I would think Schulz would have a higher value based on running a pretty successful label and then selling to Armada plus annual mix albums and artist albums for the last 10 years.
And then you would think someone like Sven Vath would be up there too, you know, running Coocoon some of the most successful parties and label in the industry. Unless they blew it all on hookers and cocaine?
And Gareth Emery that high up? Does he run a second business?
Well EMD blew big in the last 4 yrs. So of course all these Producers who have only recently emerged are on this list. Thats why everyone is trying to play this housy sounds now. They want dat fast $$. its all about marketing now. look at SHM at 16 mil. wow
The real $$ is in pop and hip hop. If I made a living as an EDM artist I would totally produce rap and pop songs in secret for a fat paycheck.
I wouldn't consider the guys with 2, 3, 4 million "rich". Most lawyers in major cities can make that in a few years or less. The lifestyle though, that's something that makes it seem pretty cool. Big dinner on per diem, nice hotels, travel, groupies, a manager wiping your ass for you if you need, adoring fans. I'd settle for 2 million plus the perks.

the fact that erick morillo isn't on this list makes me not believe it at all.
but isn't EDM pop now?

not quite accurate...

it's 100% not accurate data, neither are some of those write-ups, it's a great marketing / hype piece for EDM and those artists though.

Poor Markus, still only 2mil on both lists.
Sasha @ 95 mi, doubt that, highly. I'd believe Tiesto or Guetta only bcs of the arena sized concerts and multiple main stream releases. Tiesto has time on his side there, Guetta is a recent enigma.
Markus made 4M through GDJB alone and that was a culmination of what 2-3 years worth early on, then all the gigs after that.
Sasha I can say has done plenty to value a figure such as 95M, I would venture to say he's made more than that when you think of the following: Involver album sales, Northern Exposure (1 and 2) album sales, Fundacion album sales, Fundacion Tour, Delta Heavy Tour, residency at Twilo, residency in Ibiza, and the Global Underground Series.
at first, i was thinking that it's pretty hard for me to take this list, or the updated one, seriously.
then i thought about it - PvD, Diggers, etc. have been around 10x longer than avicii/afrojack etc. if the newcomer pop DJs are already in the low millions, then they in theory would catch up to the rest real quickly and i guess that matches up with the recent explosion.
i can't see anyone having more net worth than tiesto though. the dude is doing it all - music, concerts, clubs, festivals, arenas, iphone apps, clothing lines, headphone line. have to give him props for taking full advantage of the tiesto brand. seems the only thing he isn't doing these days is making good music lolz
I'll keep making diggers even richer.

agree on the hawtin comment and like i said, i find it impossible to believe that morillo isn't on it. he definitely has to be one of the most expensive bookings plus he has the longevity.
fun to look and talk about it, but with literally 0 backing.. i'm not believing any of it.
Well, these are ESTIMATES, not actual figures of their worth. Plus don't expect much income to come from global record sales... Standard record conracts with an obscure label give the artist a small percentage of sales, which only becomes smaller with bigger record labels. No one makes all that much money from record sales, mostly a dj's income comes from touring. If artists made good money from their music there'd be more producing and less theatrics.
SHM at $16M? Pfft. Angello alone is prob worth more than that.
I can believe Sasha is worth a lot. I was told once the guy owns a redonkulous studio where a bunch of artists' albums are produced yearly. And not only electronic music; some major mainstream music producers go to his studio and he rents it out for some serious money. Throw in several properties in different countries... makes sense since he has been in the game for a very long time and has been smart in his business moves, his income doesn't come only from producing, gigs and the Sasha brand.
Also, I find it hard to believe Tiesto is only worth $65M when he gets an obscene amount per gig, he prob made that just in the past 2 years. The Tiesto brand has a team of SIX people at AM Only from what I was told (was told this a long time ago, could be bigger now).
Kaskade is definitely making more money too, not all that much though since he went mainstream only a couple of years ago.
Then again, some agencies take up to 45%, so who knows... I don't really give a fuck.
^to address you formally,
Honestly, I think Sasha's early on albums made a lot more then we think. Perhaps now a days, with the advent of the internet and the evolution of the 'mp3', pirated music back then wasn't as prevalent as it is now. So you saw ACTUAL record and cd sales, and those sales were paid handsomely in royalties. Now a days, the margins are greatly reduced because of the market state and the evolution of technology.
Sasha's been all over early on, emFire, BMG, Global Underground, DMC, and even a bit under Bedrock through Digweed. Then everyone under Sasha, lets start with Zabiela, Spooky, working WITH Charlie May, all of that pays royalties to the man he knows what he is doing.
Moving into digital rights, how many times has Xpander been sampled, remixed, or played in a feature film / movie? He could be still making money off of films back from the mid to late 90s for a track he produced that went gold 10 years ago.
I'm sure digweed still makes money off Heaven Scent.
