Event Threads in Main Discussion Forum

I've always wondered why all the events posted in the event sub-forum also appear here in the main ny forum when they are restricted to only the events forum in the Toronto & Montreal sections. The whole point of the events forum is to clean up the main discussion forum. Am I missing something here?

Look at the top right hand corner of the NYC main forum page, and there is an option to "Hide Event Threads" from view. Click that and they won't show up with the normal threads anymore...only when you go to the Event Sub forum.
