Help a brother out (no cash involved) *Survey results added*
Survey results in article: http://blog.lovingmusic.net/item/7/the-audience.html - More details on the bottom of page 2 of this topic
Hi guys,
I'm tired of university and I couldn't pay nor warrant extending it another semester, it's been taking too long already.
For my graduation thesis I'm researching potential new business models for record labels. I'm trying to gain knowledge about the consumers right now. I've got this survey here, it contains only 10 easy questions which should take less than 5 minutes.
I especially need guys like you to answer this as the models will be focused on niche markets, anything beyond casual listers especially, so you all qualify
. I'm really hoping you could help me out on this one!

For better of for worse I can even offer you a copy of any track that has been put out during my music production 'career'. If it helps giving the amount of replies that extra push I'll do it.

I am almost done too! So you mean you are finishing in one more semester instead of two? I'll take the survey btw.
I'll be done just in the nick of time for this semester. Only 4 weeks left to handing in the paper. Defending the thesis should be somewhere halfway in August.
I've done lots of research with industry professionals and stuff, but found it necessary to gain some more insight on the consumer side of things so I made this survey.
Just did the suvrey but why do people always design them wrong every time without fail - sorry mate not having a go, but always the things force some incorrect box ticking so the survey ends up with some corrupt results.
In at least 2 questions, no stock answer was relevant so I typed in the freehand box to the bottom of each question and then just as I thought, it won't let you submitt, so I was forced to tick boxes that do not apply.
Good luck
I more or less always pay for music, old fashioned maybe.
One key reason I don't dl free stuff is because invariably that person is trying to get something on my machine like some dumbass new browser or assistant that slows everything up
Done
When I was creating the discogs entry for 'Colors' I checked everyone's discography (only a few TA'ers had discographies). You have some good credits. Any chance you could do music full time soon if you focused on it more?

Thank you, I figured I'd pissed you off in your other topic and might not be getting your vote haha.
Just did my duty lol - I would love to have more English on the end of this survey
Cheers,

*8. Which price would you prefer to pay for a single track digital download?

Done, cheers.

Originally posted by Storyteller A lot of people are still putting in answer other than free, interestingly enough. It seems most respondents see work and value in the music they like and are willing (perhaps even insisting) on paying.

I don't mind paying a shitload for a physical release, which has some value, and provides the full listening ritual experience, as well as a true feeling of "owning" that track/ep/album. Digital files simply lack that soul, they're meh.

Originally posted by rdevito Yeah, definitely it's interesting. I mean, i do spend a lot of cash with music, i don't care spending U$2,49 on Beatport for a good piece of music but well, if i PREFER to spend cash instead of taking for free... Perhaps, the correct question would be: How much is ACCEPTABLE to pay for a digital single. Maybe some people aren't interpreting this correctly.... Anyway, done.
Done.
En veel succes! Ik weet hoe het is wat betreft motivatie en de laatste loodjes voor het afstuderen. Been there, done that!
survey completed. Good Luck Mate.
Beatport is far too expensive imo. they make much more off the exclusives and I would prefer to sell my tracks at a dollar, but when they're exclusive they'll sell for 2.49 per unit. I wouldn't want to impose that but its the label's decision. I wish I had more offers from people wanting to buy directly from me via paypal, I wouldn't turn it down. I guess its time for me to start up my own label for my own purposes perhaps, next year.
Done!
done i filled all the boxes with rather extensive comments.
Thanks so much, I'm halfway with the response I'm aiming for. Any more help is appreciated!
