Hello! Wellllllllll . . . .

To be honest, i dont know if there is a specific application to do what u are asking
but here is how it can be done . . .

it all depends on the MP3 player u use
i use Sonique
www.sonique.com
and that MP3 player can convert MP3 to wav files

then all u do is use something like Audiocatalyst or another MP3 ripper and convert the wav file back to mp3

set your bit rate to what u want if your ripper will allow it

so easy huh
Convert your mp3 to wav file
convert the wav file back to mp3

yeah i would do it wicked neo's way as well. my guess is if you take an mp3 and up the bit rate while it's an mp3, you'll suffer massive quality loss instead of quality gain because it would have to go through the entire mp3 encode and rewrite it and as a result, data loss and the levels wouldn't be right as well. but yeah...do it wicked neo's way.

btw, winamp has a wave out plug-in that comes with it too.

options > preferences > output > out_disk.dll

if my memory is serving me correctly..it's called nullsoft disk writer plugin 1.0 (x86).

peace

well I will try your methods and see if they work. Thanks for the posts!!See TA is a home to help the mp3 inclined like me

As far as I know... The quality will be written as 128k but ull hear it as 56k...

I hope Im wrong...

Posted by Linx_da_cat on Apr-14-2001 23:26:

hey, try postin' this in the dj zone forum, i'm sure the lovely people in there could give you names of programs (if they exist) to up the bitrate without losing quality...hmm...just a thought.

Hello! nopers

when u convert a mp3 to wav then back to mp3 useing the method described above u do auctully increase the sound quality
not by much granted but my GF did a 56kbps bit rate mp3 to 192kbps MP3 using that way and the quality was superb

and Lynx one for u Bro
how did u get Trance Cashew above your avatar ?

wicked neo,

go to profile > edit profile

and there should be something called "custom user text", put anything you want in there and it'll appear under your name.

however, if you don't have this in the 'edit profile' window then don't sweat it. just keep on postin' and you'll eventually get that option. but you joined in january so i'm sure it'll be there...

Hello! nope lol

nope lol,
i dont have that option
soooooooooo
guess i got to keep posting
lol
some hardships i have to endure . . . .

nahhhhhhhhh lol

This is the way I do it.
1) I convert my mp3 file to wav using Nero Burning ROM.
2) I use AudioCatalyst to change that wav back to mp3.

And thats that. Sometimes the mp3 gets screwed up, but sometimes it works perfectly.

Posted by Pointy on Apr-16-2001 04:57:

BladeEnc... change it to .wav then back to .mp3

i cant remember the site so i'll search around for it
