Some people say they can't get it to play?

Works in Firefox 14 / IE 9 / Chrome 20.0.1132.47 and latest versions of flash (LINK)

Does it work for you? If not what browser version / OS / Flash version are you on? It's a google streamer... if you have a similar functioning alternative fire it my way please -- I used the same player last year and had no complaints --- not sure what happened in the past year?

Surfing directly to the player generates the same error: http://www.google.com/reader/ui/352...udio-player.swf

I think they just stopped supporting that player.

Also, doesn't work on my Opera, but that's probably my fault because I fucked it up somehow, flash rarely works for me now, I have to use Chrome for it. Still not switching browsers, though.

Edit: Doesn't work in Chrome either. I just get a blank box below the national flag.

It was mentioned it was coming on the main page + facebook for months now and it's been going on every year since 2010... the 1 week submission window was due to some circumstances out of my control... next year it will happen much earlier...but it also helps restrict the submissions to only those that were actually paying attention

On a side note, the contest was not open to residents of Quebec because of headaches involved in that... maybe that will change next year - LINK

I was getting this same problem, then it resolved itself 15 minutes later.

A Google search for "google reader ui audio-player" (sans quotations) reveals a bunch of threads on the google products forums complaining about the same issue. Seems like it's on Google's end.

As for alternatives, one of those threads mentioned something called niftyplayer:
