To cube or not to cube?

So I have been reading up on soundproofing and home studio and I am just wondering what the best shape for a home studio room would be and why?

I have read that the furthest shape from a cube is best. Is this to minimize problems such as standing resonant frequencies, comb filters, Flutter echos...etc? Or is it to deal with reflection problems?

I looked at around the last 100 posts and I couldn't find anything bout the topic and I also search soundproofing but nothing turned up. Hope this is the right section to ask in.
