Why are some people so obsessed with getting a fucking signature from another person?

So fucking lame, like some bitch-ass groupies.

1. $$$$ factor

2. Some people had that opportunity to become famous and seized it. Can't blame them. If they become dead broke they probably wished the fame never happened.

So we can sell them on eBay, duh.

I was once roped into conversing with this rather mookish neighbour of mine, Tommy. We lived in the same apartment building together, so naturally we were cut out to be besties, or so Tommy figured. I did such a great job of avoiding him for years, too! Tommy wanted to smoke me out or something, so I capitulated through the corridor and into his mirrored abode- he had practically no furniture whatsoever, dark stains be-speckling his carpet, and nothing at all on the walls, save for probably half a dozen 8x10 glossy photos of Johnny Depp, some of them in cheap frames, and some of them without - each bearing a signature across it. No two signatures appeared the same though. Realizing Tommy probably signed each of them himself, I feigned response to my own pocket with all due alacrity, and flipped open my cellphone, miming a nonexistent conversation with progressive urgency. I had to go. Sorry, Tommy. Some other time. I'd like to thank The Academy.

No other time, naturally, but I didn't want to hurt the big lug's feelings, especially in light of his possibly tenuous (ahem) grasp.

i have a signed copy of Schoenberg's theory book in the original german. I can't really read german and i was not the person to get it signed. But knowing I have this makes me feel somehow richer. That and the song star******s inc.

yes, i could see wanting an autograph on a piece of memorabilia or in this instance the actual piece of work, i think is pretty cool, really.

but on a napkin, maybe not so much.

I have an autographed pic of Frank Silva (Bob from Twin Peaks). He sent it to me after I had been calling the production company for the show for quite some time asking questions. I don't know how I got the idea to start doing that, but it's pretty much in line with my OCD tendencies.

dont see how its specifically different to a photo of said celebrity. i love my michael andretti autographed tie

I have a few autographs, a couple of whom are from people I grew up idolising (one of them I was named after) Sir Ian Botham and one of the greatest sportsmen in cricket ever, Sir Viv Richards who was amazing to watch play, was lucky enough to see him just on tv and he was mesmeric how he tore teams apart.

Aside from that, I have a few Bolton players, a cricketer who played for & now coaches our county and my mum has one from Australias most famous person aside from Steve Irwin, Stu, Mark Taylor & Alf Stewart, the artist/singer/crazy Rolf Harris.

I don't go after them religiously but if an opportunity came up & I wasn't actually bugging a person from doing something else, I'd happily ask. Most seem very friendly & happy to have a quick chat if they have time.

I see an autograph as a souvenir from meeting someone stupendously famous or influential. It should have no financial value, just sentimentality.

i also collect WWII stuff

i have a Wehrmacht Lieutenant infantry tunic and a naval administration coat. Not that i have a hard on for the Nazis, they just had really pretty uniforms. They were are authentic but not used. Not that i believe in ghosts but somehow having something someone might of died in a little weird. I wouldn't buy a nazi flag or an SS dagger.

I have been looking for a uboat midshipman uniform for my gay orgies i go to for writing inspiration.
