How to make a hit

There you go. Art is now science.

Many will probably disagree with me, but I think treating art like science is a good thing. Trying to understand the nature of making and reacting to art, is to understand how the human mind works.

I'm psyched.

You can't just do whatever your muse wants and make a hit.

Look at their formula. Not really science in any way. And terms like non harmonicity. It is pretty awful all round.

IMO trends are changing too fast now a days to keep up with a "scientific" formula for making a hit. But I do applaud their efforts.

their efforts are based on subjectivity. How danceable ? How harmonically complex ? Fluff.

Well, that's a disappointing downer. To be frank, I was actually a bit puzzled over their measuring methods as well.

yeah, those are far too few variables imo.

There will always be scientific formulas for making music but where is the fun in following a pre determined structure?

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Aug-18-2012 19:36:

Name one scientific formula
