Cinema

Apparently Maro Supper Club has closed and been completely gutted, reopening as Cinema Nightclub...? Sept 7 they have Manufactured Superstars and Sept 14 Art Department. Sounds like it'll be direct competition with Cube and Maison (70% bottle service with a bit of a dancefloor) and house on Fridays. Anyone got more deets?

Well it's safe to say bottle service sales will be down Sept. 14th

Went by Maro last night on the way to BMO for the TFC Match. Maro has always been my go to pit-stop to fuel up before games, great little place and really popular with the TFC crowd because of its proximity to BMO.

Last night it was closed though, and you could see tons of renovations go on inside. Really hope they don't go the full blown nightclub route, and that they continue to be open during daylight hours.

competition is always great for us clubbers/fans... but if Cinema is lining them selfs up to be like Cube and Maison, I would like them to be playing house on a Saturday... Having an option for a club that plays house with an older crowd is more apealing to me, then lets say Guv or Xs where theres a younger crowd....

I do like how Provoke and Xs is going head to head with Guv on Sat... the last competitor was Circa, and they got ruined lol

It's only because Circa tried to go head to head and do similar IMO.

As for the other clubs, if they are smaller/loungier they will do better because I think it probably doesn't cost as much.

They are installing a funktion one sound system in there, from what I've heard. Probably similar to cube and maison! It's a bottle service club with loads of booths, private areas- Miami style. Nonetheless something to look forward to! Fridays is house nights, and Saturdays top 40 crap. They should be bringing in good talent hopefully.

Cobra's dance floor always them to stay in business.

Bottle service, not cover charge, is the revenue that fuels clubs.

These clubs with these crowds, yes. Clubs like footwork manage to sustain themselves without vip tables

Great bookings, friendly staff + environment, reasonable cover charges, and a clear appreciation for party-goers.

Everything you see is right regarding funktion 1 and a totally fresh look from maro.

The lineup is looking stellar (think DD) and if you want an idea of style the residents will be Andy Warburton from Hed Kandi and Kurtbradd from BETA. more details on who after the TIFF dates.

Opening night is September 7.

My friends want to go for Nic Fancuilli at Maison. Does anyone know how long dj sets are at maison? They have a 4am last call. So i'm hoping it's at least a 3 hours set. I personally really want to check out Nicole Moudaber at Footwork, been looking forward to that gig for some time now.

Sets by the headliners I've seen there were generally 3 hours give or take half an hour...
