Freaky .... will it be held ??

Due to the fact that last year freaky was held @ the sona and the fact that celebration line-uip was .... let's say not that good + the fact that connected got cancelled ( ok it was connected month @ the sona but it was not THE connected .... the event ) + the fact that oasis was cancelled due to the fact that no good dj's wanted to play at Oasis ( sorry i had to say that ) + the fact that this year cream line-up was .... awfull ( let's say the good words ).

My big question is ... will freaky be held ... and will it live up to it's reputation ( i meant dj speaking ... the first one had digweed and deep dish headlining, last year Seb fontaine and max graham where headlining.... ) will they give us something as good ??

last year it was @ sona.. so it dont count =)

.. true reason why these large events are cancelled are that DJ, Venues, and security cost too much to be worthwild. back in teh day, most promotors could break even on ticket sales (if lucky) then rake in the cash on consessions, not when they hold events at Molson center

Posted by KrinKer on Sep-11-2002 04:49:

Don't care if it's held at the sona. .. as long as the line-up is as killer as the last two editions ( the only two editions you'll say )

Let's hope the headliner is good .... 'cause this year headliner for 514 weren't that good....

Celebration ... don'T get me started
Swirl - OK picotto + Tall paul + Graham was pretty good
Froza - ... execpt for tiesto .. there was nothing good
Craem - ..... humm ?? was green velvet headlining ??? that's not wath 514 used to give us !!

I have big expectations for Freaky last two eaditions were INCREDIBLE ( well .. first one was better ).

But i'll guess that 514 will try to keep some money to be able to do a good celebration ... with a good headliner this year ( lol )

And... You need to know that Luke Slater is playing Aria on the friday and Steve Lawler on the saturday for a crazy Halloween week-end!

Posted by DARK MAN X on Sep-11-2002 16:41:

THERE WILL BE NO FREAKY THIS YEAR, ANY MONEY 514 MADE FROM CREAM WILL GO TO A NEW SONA, IF THEY GO AHEAD WITH THAT. THEY DONT EVEN HAVE ANY BIG NAMES AT SONA ANYMORE. ITS TO BAD BUT I THINK WEVE SEEN THE END OF 514.

PEACE

Posted by KrinKer on Sep-11-2002 17:04:

We haven't seen the end of 514 ( anyway i hope not they did trew the best damn party in montreal ... if 514 dies .... there will be two good party per year in mtl ( Bal en blanc and the black and blue )

Everybody tought that 514 would die after wath hapenned to swirl last year ... but they're still up and running ( not as fast as they where before you'll say ) but still dthey did manage to throw 2 good party this yea ( swirl and cream )

Let's just hope that freaky won't be cancelled ...

And yeah i agree last year freaky was freaky ( lol ) but stil ... seb fontaine and max graham did my night that night !! I want something like that this year !!!

P.S. Biggy i know for luke slater ... i'm gonna be at the dag on thursday october 31st

I just got checked "nigthlife" magazine and there was an ad for Sona with the usual "club wars" and on the bottom a little word saying "countdown"...

i'm anxious to see this new Sona.

Posted by ZinG on Sep-11-2002 22:33:

seems Sona want to fight among eachother

Posted by Czaoth on Sep-11-2002 22:40:

#1 i really hope 514 stays in business because it's good to have options

#2 problems that where plaguing 514 at Sona, ie their environment getting too hot and too packed, well Aria is becoming like that. For example, Oakie was great but the environment sucked because of heat and a crowded place

my 2 cents

Posted by fastmp3 on Sep-12-2002 01:52:

hey that was totally normal for an oakenfold night , don't forget who oakenfold is , i'm sure 75% of those who were there don't make the difference between trance or house , they went there because it's OAKENFOLD (paul van oakenfold that techno dj on internet)

Posted by malek on Sep-12-2002 03:54:

hmm... Oakenfold night was like the extreme at Aria. Don't forget also that it was in the middle of summer!

This summer, even when Aria wasn't packed it was still hot because of the outside temp.

As for Sona I really hope it stays open, its a big plus for Montreal. (also they can keep their shaddy clientele)

Posted by discojoe on Sep-12-2002 04:30:

Yes sona may have some bad ventilation and it may be somewhat of an outdated club, but the main reason its hot is because it is so packed. I love aria, I love the club, I love the people and the music, but please dont kid yourselves.. If jfl was given the option to pack his club like sona, I'm pretty confident he would as would any person running a business. Hey if people are coming, they obviously dont have a problem with the heat. If they dont like it, they dont go. And these days as dj fees are climbing as fast as hockey salaries, club owners have no choice but to overpack.

I really hope 514 does pull through. The scene needs strong competition to stay healthy. Nobody wins if 514 goes under (well maybe biggy )

Posted by mastercongo on Sep-12-2002 05:18:

as for packing i think picotto (for his reputation of trance tunes) i know everyone knows him from his past commercial tunes and i will see many people comming that expect that kind of music :P too bad hehe.

van dyk will pack it for sure. another dj that has a big name. im sure they will pack aria. probably more than tiesto.
but who knows

Posted by Czaoth on Sep-12-2002 18:32:

Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming Biggy at all. All i'm saying is that success will inevitably lead to a packed and hot environment which is my only peave about afterhours. AVBs first trip to Aria was like a dream for me. Space to dance and space to breathe while listening to a kick ass DJ.

A friend of mine had gone to an afterhours in Vegas where the whole club had a wicked central air conditioning system. The place was jam packed yet it wasn't hot. Install one of these heavy duties Biggy 8)

Posted by Biggy on Sep-12-2002 21:15:

Ok, here is my comments about all these subjects!

Air conditionning at Aria is really powerfull but sometimes it's too cold, so some night we just start air conditionning a bit later and like this it's hot but just ok to have a good party!

As for overcrowd the club, we don't want that! Paul Oakenfold was the only overcrowded night at Aria and it was due to a error on our side! We sold too much tickets and during the night too many people paid at the door and the club was pack then there was other people coming with tickets at 4h00 - 5h00 so it was impossible for us to tell them ''NO'' the club is too pack!

But you will not see more people at Aria than Misstress Barbara night who was a crowded night but not too much, just perfect to have a good party in the place!

As for Sona, they like to see their club overpack and it's easy to se that because the place in coming smaller every week to still have a look like the club is really crowded!

Biggy,

whats happening in black and blue ??

Posted by Biggy on Sep-13-2002 11:39:

I don't know why you ask for Black & Blue?
I am not taking care of this party!
Mauro Picotto and Dieselboy are at Aria the same night as
B&B!
