skrillex

ok, ok, i undastand... i'm not a big dub step fan either... in fact, i don't really even understand the movement... aside from huge, inexplicable drops accompanied by bass-lines that make little sense...

that being said... this skrillex tune is pretty good in my opinion...

thoughts?

Posted by idoru on Aug-19-2012 03:54:

It's a festering pile of shit.

Posted by Big Worm on Aug-19-2012 03:56:

seriously?

i think it's pretty good.....

Posted by meriter on Aug-19-2012 04:06:

it has a little soul, it's trying anyway. I think it speaks to its audience effectively (stupid drunk girls)

Posted by Big Worm on Aug-19-2012 04:10:

well, i'm a lil drunk, but i'm not a stupid girl..lol...

nah, i just think it sounds pretty fresh... it's a good track. but to each their own.

Posted by Lews on Aug-19-2012 04:13:

Eh, pretty fucking boring, imo.

Posted by meriter on Aug-19-2012 04:15:

it's not fresh that synth sound is the most generic fucking thing.. whatever it's pop music I get the appeal

Posted by Big Worm on Aug-19-2012 04:18:

haha... fair enough.. i'm not trying to convert anybody...

i just heard this track from a friend, and i thought it sounded decent. i liked the "oriental" feel to it.

but, aside from that, i'm not into skrillex (or really even know/understand his choones).. but this track has substance, in my opinion.

I just really don't like the particular sound that is making the rounds in "pop" EDM these days. I especially don't like music that sounds as thought it was mastered to be as loud as fucking possible; there's no subtlety to any of the layers in this track at all.

But that's just my opinion.

i can see your point.... altho, with this particular track, i honestly thought it seemed more subtle in a sense.. which is why i liked it.

you're right about the capitalization of big drops and baselines, but i thought this track was decent enough in its approach.. seeming slightly more subtle.

edit// i'm the master of redundancy, lol...

That youtube clip is hilarious.

He is making music for the masses who don't have very developed tastes.

Thats about all I have to say on the matter besides that youtube clip is awesome

I have nothing against this Skrillex dude, i can't say i'd ever buy an album of his either. On the other hand, I have discovered a very good remix of his from one of my favorite bands to come out of Scotland in recent days, they're 'Twin Atlantic'.

Posted by junkproject on Aug-19-2012 22:03:

Not a fan of skrillex or big fan of dubstep. This is the only track i found decent from him.

Posted by DodecaphonicSym on Aug-20-2012 19:16:

Only skrillex track I like is
Bangarang
and I only like it a little like maybe a 6.7/10

he is overrated
but not terrible
certainly not as overrated as David Guetta
who is basically pop music and should be excluded from the DJ Mag poll

I find that dubstep does not age well at all compared to Progressive
trance doesnt age as well as Progressive in my opinion either
but certainly better than dubstep
I get tired of even the best dubstep songs withing 10-15 plays

don't u think the shelf-life is a big problem for dubstep?

definitely some 200% distortion going on up in here... haha...

but i thought the track was pretty good overall..... definitely some redeeming value.

To be honest it sounds fucking shocking to me, like someone has let their oriental cat loose on a fisher price keyboard/synth, just sounds mega cheese on toast to me, can't see the appeal.
so in summary, its a bit gay mate.

thumbs up for that tutorial video, funnily the tune in that sounds infinitely better than that skrillex bollox.

Posted by freakster on Aug-21-2012 23:36:

never thought Id hear such a wimpy tune from skrillex. gross.

Posted by iTranscendence on Aug-23-2012 09:04:

Not a big fan of Dubstep but there are far more talented artists than Skillrex, listening to him or Mt. Eden for Dubstep is like listening to Tiesto or Armin for Trance. But it also means the genre, like trance, is brimming full of shit with a few diamonds in the rough.
