Trying to produce fast, how do you avoid this?
Every now and then I feel like if i'm not working fast enough on a tune, i drop it all together.
How can I avoid this so I can spend more time on my tracks rather than rushing them? My hope is to make my tracks sound better all around.
I'm sure i'm not alone on this.
it all depends on how much of the track you are working to fast on personally my workflow is very quick.
on average i take less then a days work to make my shit work but take time out to rework it and mix it.
so if you really think your speed is to fast dont panic to much just take time to finish it
once your "finished" the first time, render it and let it be for a few weeks, listen to it now and then and try to find out whats wrong with it, comparing it to other music etc. then go back on it after a month and fix what u have noted in your head is wrong. redo it once more and then it should be fine. quite often i tend to delete parts and elements, and shorten it making it more in your face. less is more.
I always focus on my groove, and that is never something that happens fast. Just focus on one or two sounds that can help define that track until they're done, and other things should start to fall into place. Not sure if this helps
you have to be harsh on your self! the amount of times ive rushed a track thinking its the dogs balls and then next day or so i listen back or compare it to reference tracks i soon realised its as tasty as a bag of S@@T.......
im still having little mixing problems now but now realised its all about taking time, putting in extra effort and also looking my lug oles by taking frequent breaks! I've also started with a small clip of a reference track in my mixes to make sure im still heading in the right direction with how it sounds. this is my way.......short story though...take you time
