has to be homelands!

one of his greatest sets ever

my mix opens with Jon Vesta - Gull and just flows with beautiful tracks like The Auranaut - People Needed To Be Wanted, Grace - It's Not Over, Gouryella - Gouryella, and when oakie finishes with Man With No Name - Teleport, i nearly die. Teleport leaves you begging for more!

perfection

Guys i have every single audio production oakey has ever laid hands on. These are great sets u guys listed but i think the best one was was Oakey live from home @ space in ibiza. Never have i heard such flawless mixing combined with great track selection, till this day it is still my number one set but not to discredit homelands was an awesome set though two hours of that no one couldve hanlded

The beginning of Havana, Cuba w/ Alena - Turn it Round is one of my favorite essential mix moments. Also, any time that Eisbaer was played (for some reason this track owns me). Also from Shadow Lounge, Miami when he opens with Tastexperience - Highlander, and also Jan Johnston - Am I On Pause? (I still wish this mix was released ... blah).

Ohh, and I love Tong's comments to introduce Oakenfold .. always entertaining.

I absolutely agree. Oakey @ Space in Ibiza. One of my most favorite of all times, and ofcourse Oakeys #1 IMO.

Nice to see a fellow Houstonian.

There are really much...

some from the Space Ibiza Set:

The Intro Open Your Eyes when the beats kicks "really" in. Open Your Eyes coming for a second time.
Blondie - Nothing is real but the Girl (Danny Taneglia Remix) after the mysterious whitelabe. One of the best breaks I know and the Voice "Essential Mix with Paul Oakenfold @ Space Ibiza" and u can "hear" the sun

definitely Space Ibiza...

Reminds me of 2000. Me and my girlfriend on Ko Phangan, Thailand. We didnt want to go to one of the Halfmoon-Parties and got a bungalow at the other end of the isle... and guess what happened that evening, when we just wanted to have a quiet one? Big speaker towers, two turntables and a guy from Birmingham turn up, 20 Thais, a couple of guys and gals from Canada and Australia and the DJ spins Trance... late that night, we are already chilling I got my tape with Oakey@Space out, get the DJ to plug it in and we go totally crazy to Oakey... oh what memories

I haven't got too many of these sets yet,but I here are my 2 fav moments:

Live @ Home,London - When he drops L-Vee - Look Inside (Fire & Ice Mix). All these pearls dropping in one after another and then BAM!This one kicks in.A pure OMG-moment.This one is still my all time F&I production-fav.That piano loop, and that incredible synth-riff...wow!

Live @ Joni's,Havana,Cuba - That transition between The Auranaut - People Want Be Needed and V-Tracks - Heretic Voices is MINDBLOWING!That Auranaut-track is a little too repetitive, but when he plays the vocals from V-Tracks on top of the whole maelstrm of sounds from The Auranaut,it's just amazing.

I TEND TO LIKE THE GATECRASHER LOTHERTON HALL SET THE BEST. ITS THE FIRST LIVE SET I EVER HAD SO MAYBE I'M A LITTLE BIASED. ANYWAY, THE BREAKDOWN IN JON VESTA - GULL... NICE ONE BRUTHA... I SAID NICE ONE AND THEN IT KICKS IN HEHEHE. ITS THE CLASSIC FOR ME.

@Floorfiller:

Yep, one of those great >>magic moments<<

Radio 1 - Oakenfold at Gatecrasher, Lotherton Hall, Leeds 19-06-99
during Jon Vesta - Gull

49:01
"the essential mix live on radio one tonight - an extended edition
paul oakenfold on the decks
we are at gatecrasher lotherton hall
judge jules is here as well"

49:28
"nice one brother
i said NICE ONE"

then it hits the roof and I go ballistic and turn the volume up ! OMG, YES !!

yes! i was just hearing this the other day thinking wow... that was a good transition! is that the original v-tracks tho? cause i got the angles remix which sounds heaps like it but not that cool vocal! or was that vocal even a third source! (more respect!)

Creamfields?

I don't think you can beat when he plays The Realm - 'Lost In Space' during the Creamfields set, that whole section near the end is superb.

Also I agree with the person above about the Miami definitely one of the classiest Oakie sets out there.

Posted by sifntj0r on Sep-13-2002 13:55:

pete tong certainly adds a little cherry on the top of awesome oakie sets

yea not to mention live from Shang-hai @ the Rojam that to me was a good one but i will admit one must have an eclectic taste for this mix. But my all time favorite moment was in homelands and he dropped GRACE - Not Over Yet and the crowd begins to clap OMFG I DIED!!!! Tongs comments to me are so funny and unique and the way he describes not only the city but the mix as well great job hell this post was done with a little bit of help from me self pete tong
