...How Clubbing Changed the World...
ill watch this after the quantum leap marathon.
watched the whole thing. great documentary. nothing i really didn't already know about the culture having always been interested in it's history, but i just love the feeling watching stuff like this evokes. makes me feel like let's all take a step back from our bickering about music and just be grateful to be having a good time at a party.
ey thnx for da lynx son. i doubt theres any1 that loves havin a laff as much as me at brit rave culture.... "come on lads! im buzzin"
Lovely documentary, put a big smile on my face at several different moments. If you want a crash course in the history of dance music in 90 minutes, this is the place to start. Makes me proud to be British as well. Records like Jack Your Body, Pump Up The Volume and Charly topped the UK charts and sold hundreds of thousands of copies with no mainstream radio play and no major label support. If there's any country in the world where underground culture can gain mass support free of corporate control and influence, it's ours.
u brits r too hard on urselves. either ur proud or kinda half shamed, ive had real uk friends. ur land is responsible for most good pop culture u should be proud. uve got bad food, opressed india, dental issues but in all u should be proud.
For a more factual, in-depth history of the music, it's also worth checking out another Channel 4 documentary:
saw this 20x in 06'-07', when i was still inpired by edm.
ps: sean ryders a proper mincer lol
Just watched it, really good, Makes me wonder of the direction we`re heading.
I have not watched the video yet, however...
I do agree. The UK are definitely some people to be respected. The Dutch too!
The UK has some of the finest musical artists and movements. You guys got all the EDM creativity over there; Tijs' classic production crew, Ferry Corsten, Paul Van Dyk, Cosmic Baby, L.S.G., Sasha & Digweed, etc...
Then you guys got The Beatles, Radiohead, Muse, who are notoriously successful.
I mean, we Americans got some talent, but honestly EDM, Trance mainly, played a huge role in my life. So thank you Europe!
They didn't mention Berlin?
^ bbc doc i think, only credit uk but never others
ridiculous documentary
william? guetta? olympics ceremony? and yes, there was dance music outside of the uk in the last 20 years. could have been produced by the daily mail.
EDIT (and i posted before a bird called "katy b" and fucking skrillex came on)
during this years euro12 they msade a doc about the Poles claiming they were all neo nazis , wouldnt surprise me. Stadiums of Hate itvwas called, just couldnt be happy 4 them becuz it wasnt uk.
