A trance star being born?

Hes been around for ages - but things look on the up'n'up for Mindwave. He has got his sound perfectly classical and somehow timeless at the moment.

This is his newest remix

(dont worry about the first 30 seconds or end bit as its mixed into whats sounds pretty obnoxious)

Now I really like this tune - i think its his first on Armada/Perfecto.

Is this the bit where he sells out and goes all generic like so many before him?
Or is this the new chapter of something special and transcendental for trance?

Time will tell.

Actually, the first 30 seconds (starting at 0:05) is what I like most about this youtube-post because it reminds me of some great driving classic prog tracks.

Posted by blackplanet on Aug-29-2012 17:37:

Mindwave has been around for a few years in the prog-psy scene. Some very pleasant tracks but I can't say he's really made anything to stand out from a growing crowd. I liked his remix of Autumn Lights, but it doesn't stray far from the original.

Same thoughts here

this is what modern psy trance has been sounding like, for a few years now. Lots of artists that sound exactly like this.

Posted by trancedanne on Aug-29-2012 23:13:

Sounds kinda boring, same psy sounds you have heard for years

He's right. I used to hear this stuff in clubs all the time back around ten years ago.

Posted by TheTranceAddic on Aug-30-2012 00:14:

It's called a fucking genre for a reason because that particular type of style shares a common trait and similarity...What's funny is that a lot of people on this forum complain how trance is not what it 'used to be'.

Then the same people(i.e. people like you) complain that they miss the olden days or miss the old sounds or complain that the sound is what you heard 10 years ago...Don't you see what you are doing to yourselves? You are setting a double standard here.

I really wish people would stop being so god damn picky & pretentious and just enjoy trance...If you can do better than by all means show us...

At least be happy that it doesn't sound like that avicii/SHM/Guetta/Tech-house/minimal bullshit that people call music.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Aug-30-2012 02:40:

I do like Mindwave's tunes, but they are basically fucking useless to a DJ because the basslines just have no energy whatsoever. All his tracks tend to be at 135-140bpm, but you can't mix them with anything else at this tempo because they just suck the energy out of the mix.

the production sounds modern but this fusion of psy trance, the bass is a give away and trance was en vogue for a while. Not saying it is bad. Just that you might want to look for psy trance and sort of work from that end. And his name is Yahel. From Israel. So i can guaranty that despite his mainstream success, his contemporaries would be listed under psy trance.

The thread isn't about Yahel. Learn to fucking read.

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Aug-30-2012 03:28:

First, you need to chill the fuck out.

Secondly, this thread is about a track , by Yahel remixed by another artist that produces in a similar fashion. You have some fucking issues you need to address. Because right now , you think it is just your hair but I would hate to see you have a heart attack for being such an uptight miserable ****. The smallest indiscretion seems to drive you over the hill.

Not sure what is going wrong in your life but I am tired of your incessant need to be a dick when it really isn't warranted. I was trying to help. I don't like the way you address me and I think you should learn some fucking manners. I have tried to treat you and everyone else with respect but you just won't let a grudge go.

No it isn't, you stupid illiterate fucktard. It's about Mindwave. The thread title says "A trance star" and the first sentence says "Hes been around for ages - but things look on the up'n'up for Mindwave." If you can't figure that from the first two fucking sentences in this thread, you should probably just destroy your computer to ensure you don't accidentally order 5,000 alarm clocks when you were just trying to check your emails, because comprehending the most basic and obvious of information is clearly beyond your feeble mental capabilities.

And yesterday I had to say goodbye to a girl I've been seeing because she's moving hundreds of miles away to study as a doctor. So yeah, what's going on in my personal life has not exactly left me in a stellar mood to tolerate your rampant, flagrant stupidity.

EDIT: Oh, and you're tired of me being an incessant dickhead? Go fuck yourself, you utter hypocrite. You act like a dick in every third post, don't turn around and cry when someone hands it back to you.

I actually enjoyd this remix.

You do realize i was replying to someone regarding the style at hand and how it has been around for a few years. I guess you missed that part because my mention of Yahel, assuming you did read the exchange, was quite relevant. Not really me that isn't reading. Kinda makes your little tantrum a little on the crazy side.

You just sound really angry all the time. Deal with your shit on your own time. And i've had my moments but they were usually warranted and perhaps you haven't noticed but i've been rather kind to everyone in the last few months. So no, i would say i'm a hypocrite. You lash out for no reason. The manner in which you hold grudges is just not normal. It is annoying and rather clear that this isn't about anything but your dislike for me.

I really don't understand why you have to constantly gun for me.

You confirmed your idiocy when you said "This thread is about a track", and nothing you subsequently dream up will bullshit your way out of that. You've basically wandered into a psy-trance thread and have started condescendingly trying to educate people about what psy-trance has sounded like for years, when most of the people in this thread know a shit-ton more about psy trance than you. I guarantee you had never heard of Mindwave before clicking on this thread. And to top it off, you can't even figure out what the fucking subject of discussion is.

I gun for anyone I think is acting like an idiot. Unfortunately for you, you act like an idiot all too often. If you were capable of paying attention, you might have noticed I occasionally agree with you on things and even back you up in debates. But you aren't capable of paying attention, so I'll write it out in big colourful crayon: don't be stupid, and I won't mock you.

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Aug-30-2012 05:41:

please do point out where i was being condescending. That would be your expertise. The poster made a claim regarding an artist that is a rising star with a style of music I feel is quite common. I did not really hear anything that special. You seem to infer a lot that isn't there which i am guessing is more your neurosis having to find the worst in everything and that is unfortunate. I have no idea why you are rambling on about absolutely nothing debating an argument we aren't having. You are over reacting and acting like a child.

i would suggest professional help because the way you act is fucking deranged. You are clearly seething with anger. It is kinda fucked.

An artist who isn't Yahel.

You said something stupid, I told you to learn how to read and you got very upset. Now you're telling me to get professional help whilst simultaneously suggesting I'm over-reacting. Classic.

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Aug-30-2012 05:57:

no , i mentioned Yahel in another exchange. It is right there in the quote. You jumped the gun as you often do and went into attack mode. I told you to learn some manners. I don't like the way you talk to me but trust me, i'm not angry. I am a little bit concerned, How you get angry at something that isn't there is odd. You make links that were not made. You insult others when you are clearly the one that should head your own advice. The fact is that you derailed a thread because i mentioned an artist in reply to someone talking about the style which said artist is known for and hence the reason why I mentioned him. You are making a really big deal out of well, lets just assume i did what you think i did, nothing. The fact that i didn't makes your ranting a little Glenn Beck'sih. You aren't well. You hinted at that and i hope you get better. Do know that I really don't like the way you talk to me.I guess i wish you would sort your shit out because you are quite the downer.

It's all the same exchange, and Yahel is basically irrelevant. The original track is about a decade old, and this is a discussion about Mindwave. I assume you were blathering on about Yahel because you can't read (wouldn't be the first time you've made a totally non-sequitur response having misread an OP), but if not maybe it's just because you're just a rambling fool.

And I don't like the way you talk about me, even in threads where I'm not involved. Don't think I haven't seen your bitching. So go fuck yourself. We never signed a treaty.

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Aug-30-2012 06:26:

really don't see what you are trying to prove. This is beyond ridiculous. You have an obsession and will use anything you can to rationalize your tantrums.

\ Regarding how i talk to you, i made a decision to be nicer few months ago partly due to how miserable you come across and how annoying it is and realizing how that is how I don't want to be. I feel i've been quite respectful with you. So I am surprised by that but how you feel is how you feel and i'm sorry for that.

I"m tired of your sophist rhetoric that serves no purpose other than perpetuating your delusion that this is a battlefield and every discussion is something you have to win. You are always out to invalidate anything you can for the smallest reasons. You made a mountain out of a molehill and pissed your pants in the process. Not sure what you get out of it. It seems so pointless , desperate and sad.

I realize that but Trance is a wonderful thing. It is a beautiful genre. Artist that make music do it out of love and their expression of how they feel. Some want to even tell a story. Just learn to enjoy man...

People should really stop this negativity, it's not good for the scene. You don't think there were shit tunes during the "glory" years of trance?

If you want things to turn around it's only we as fans can really influence that and the first thing would be is by showing support to artist and not pressuring artist to come up with a new godddamn subgenre of trance each time. This is exactly the problem...

We as fans expect a producer to produce a newer style of trance because apparently the lastone has gone past it's used-by date.

I love all styles of trance, including psy,but this shit about oh it "all sounds the same",sounds generic(when the correct term should be plain and not generic),oh this sounds like the shit I or some artist used to produce 10 years ago needs to fucking stop. Why is it that other genres aren't picked on for sounding similar/same? Because this shitty nonsense only exist in trance.

Just be happy that they still made it sound great, and that's what everyone needs to learn to appreciate.

Like I said, it's called a genre for a reason. Be happy that psyprogressive trance actually sounds like trance and resembles trance, and is trance. Unlike the douchebags, like Armin van Boring or Gareth Emery etc...

Not trying to be rude or anything...

Posted by TheTranceAddic on Aug-30-2012 07:23:

You people really want the trance sounds not to die? Don't force it to reinvent itself...Otherwise, you'll end up with a genre like trouse...A really fucked up version of EDM.

That is unless you want it to completely die off and with that losing whatever essence of trance that is remaining, lost forever...Your choice really...

Posted by RebeL9 on Aug-30-2012 10:37:

I dunno but he somehow reminds me a bit of Allaby. But Allaby sounds more mature, more thick and groovy.
