A trance star being born?

Hes been around for ages - but things look on the up'n'up for Mindwave. He has got his sound perfectly classical and somehow timeless at the moment.

This is his newest remix



(dont worry about the first 30 seconds or end bit as its mixed into whats sounds pretty obnoxious)


Now I really like this tune - i think its his first on Armada/Perfecto.

Is this the bit where he sells out and goes all generic like so many before him?
Or is this the new chapter of something special and transcendental for trance?

Time will tell.

Actually, the first 30 seconds (starting at 0:05) is what I like most about this youtube-post because it reminds me of some great driving classic prog tracks.

Mindwave has been around for a few years in the prog-psy scene. Some very pleasant tracks but I can't say he's really made anything to stand out from a growing crowd. I liked his remix of Autumn Lights, but it doesn't stray far from the original.

this is what modern psy trance has been sounding like, for a few years now. Lots of artists that sound exactly like this.

It's called a fucking genre for a reason because that particular type of style shares a common trait and similarity...What's funny is that a lot of people on this forum complain how trance is not what it 'used to be'.

At least be happy that it doesn't sound like that avicii/SHM/Guetta/Tech-house/minimal bullshit that people call music.

I do like Mindwave's tunes, but they are basically fucking useless to a DJ because the basslines just have no energy whatsoever. All his tracks tend to be at 135-140bpm, but you can't mix them with anything else at this tempo because they just suck the energy out of the mix.

the production sounds modern but this fusion of psy trance, the bass is a give away and trance was en vogue for a while. Not saying it is bad. You do realize i was replying to someone regarding the style at hand and how it has been around for a few years. I guess you missed that part because my mention of Yahel, assuming you did read the exchange, was quite relevant. Not really me that isn't reading. Kinda makes your little tantrum a little on the crazy side.

You just sound really angry all the time. Deal with your shit on your own time. And i've had my moments but they were usually warranted and perhaps you haven't noticed but i've been rather kind to everyone in the last few months. So no, i would say i'm a hypocrite. I did not really hear anything that special. You seem to infer a lot that isn't there which i am guessing is more your neurosis having to find the worst in everything and that is unfortunate. I realize that but Trance is a wonderful thing. It is a beautiful genre. Artist that make music do it out of love and their expression of how they feel. Some want to even tell a story. Just learn to enjoy man...

People should really stop this negativity, it's not good for the scene. You don't think there were shit tunes during the "glory" years of trance?

If you want things to turn around it's only we as fans can really influence that and the first thing would be is by showing support to artist and not pressuring artist to come up with a new godddamn subgenre of trance each time. This is exactly the problem...

We as fans expect a producer to produce a newer style of trance because apparently the lastone has gone past it's used-by date.

I love all styles of trance, including psy,but this shit about oh it "all sounds the same",sounds generic(when the correct term should be plain and not generic),oh this sounds like the shit I or some artist used to produce 10 years ago needs to fucking stop. Why is it that other genres aren't picked on for sounding similar/same? Because this shitty nonsense only exist in trance.


Just be happy that they still made it sound great, and that's what everyone needs to learn to appreciate.

You people really want the trance sounds not to die? Don't force it to reinvent itself...Otherwise, you'll end up with a genre like trouse...A really fucked up version of EDM.


That is unless you want it to completely die off and with that losing whatever essence of trance that is remaining, lost forever...Your choice really...

I dunno but he somehow reminds me a bit of Allaby. But Allaby sounds more mature, more thick and groovy.
