What's with the hatred against muslims, jews, and other minorities?

Are they treating minorities a different way or is this just political? I would like some educated thoughts on this. Is there a core problem we don't know about or are not discussing? Is it all a joke since society needs scapegoats for their anger, and frustration? Is it purely based on religion? since alot of people are starting to think that religious people are not very bright.

I'm just wondering because I've seen these kinds of things first hand for a while now and no one seems to come to their aid at which point I feel need to step in and resolve the situation. For example there's this girl at work who wears the burka/scarf(?) and gets treated very poorly by some people who I thought were bright and level-headed and don't have such a low level mindset. The same thing happens with the jews. Upon knowing that one's jewish/paki, the jokes start and can get very inappropriate very soon not to mention how they treat the gay community which is equally worse. Now this is a very small group of people at work like 3-4 but I was shocked to hear their opinions on minorities.

Does this kind of thing ever happen where you work? (I work in an office building in the financial district btw)

I feel that the world needs to evolve and get past these things.

What is your opinion?

I like how you excluded "blacks" from your thread title, when they're the most discriminated minority of them all.

If you understood anything about the evolution and the survival mechanism this post would be no longer relevant to your understanding for humanity.

I think its sad that girls are brought up to wear a burqa. I also think its sad to mock them for it. Its not their fault. Its childhood indoctrination.
I know some girls who have not been indoctrinated choose to wear it when they are adults. That's different. Usually its indoctrination.

Not here especially but in the everyday world you see this type of stuff all the time and you feel the need to do something. History repeats itself and I feel that it's crucial to step in when you see something that you feel is wrong regardless of race or ethnicity. Call me a total ****** but can't we all just get along? I mean look at the big picture. It can't be that bad. I mean it really pisses me off to see the level of ignorance, arrogance, and hatred in the world. It's the 21st century. I feel that people would have evolved a lot more by then. It's not about you, me them, us, our kind, their kind. It's about what's right and wrong.


Edit: I just feel that I needed to vent and see how tranceaddict feels about the issue.

That's true but if she willingly wears it, then we have no right to tell her whether she can/cannot wear it. It's up to their own free-will. Childhood indoctrination is a very positive/negative thing. It's at completely two different ends of the spectrum. You can use it for good by teaching kids from right and wrong or use it brainwash them and manipulating them into doing what you want and believing what you believe. I'm sure you're a pretty enlightened guy but if you get a chance, watch this documentary called Jesus Camp.

It's not up to their free will. The pressure from family/husbands are immense even when they live in free societies like Europe and North America.

if something aggrevates you at your work environment, why don't you say something about it, instead of just letting it slide?
