And your point is? There are millions of Muslims in the world, and just hundred of protesters being downright stupid in front of these embassies.

Also, Sudan is not part of the traditional definition of Middle East.

The problem is, it's become a sport to feel offended. It provides media attention and creates a sense of community in the "victim group".

I wonder if the SOuth Sudanese folks are glad they separated?

Very unlikely. For one thing, they have as much access to education as their northerly neighbours, and nearly a fifth of the population is Muslim.

It's very naive to think this is just because of Islam and/or because of an obscure film. As you probably remember, just eight years ago Theo Van Gogh's "Submission" didn't attract violent mobs to Dutch embassies; even the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons, which inspired their fair share of arsonists, didn't cause such a commotion, with foreign diplomats being targeted by heavily armed militias.

These are, for the most part, politically unstable countries. The people behind these attacks, such as the one that killed the American ambassador to Libya, are not seen under a positive light even in their own countries. It's not just a matter of Muhammad being depicted unfavourably, it's the consequence of disastrous relationships between these countries and the developed world, failed governments unable to protect their own people (and foreign embassies in their territory), and desperate measures by extremists trying to fix their countries.

So I'm not one for tall stories but what happened in Libya was a complete setup.

I have a Libyan friend who is extremely disturbed about the the way the recent events there are being portrayed. The hit was a completely planned event, by a hardcore group of outsiders.

The coverage of these "anti-riots" can help you tell the trustworthy media outlets apart from the sensationalists. According to some news agencies, it's like they don't even exist

I agree. Every attack and act of violence against American soldiers for the next month is going to be followed up with, "We did it because of the movie." Until the next excuse is conjured up.
