How long will Dubstep survive for?
How long will Dubstep survive for? There's only so far you can go with wobble sounds and what not. That's why I don't thing this style will last very long.
define "dubstep".
As long as drum n bass does
How long will it survive in the mainstream seems like a more productive discussion.
You'll have commercial bastardizations of it for another year or two at least, gradually a new trend will creep in and make it redundant.
Like anything it will be a case of when the public get sick to fuck of everyone milking it for every dime it is worth.
Its here to stay!
However long nu-metal survived for.
Prime electro house lasted from 2003-2007. Prime dubstep has been since 2009 so it'll drop off in 2013.

who cares dub step sucks
All I know is that I'm tired of hearing the wobble breakdown bullshit on trance tracks....no matter how good the rest of the song is, I will not buy a track with a wobble breakdown....or wobble anything.
I actually think Dubstep as a trend is actually on it's slow decline in popularity. With the rise of Trap music coming in and becoming more and more popular I think it will be the next big thing within the EDM community. In my opinion though Trap just sounds like a sub genre of hip hop.

Dubstep's new hybrid is the current term "TRAP"
the next BIG thing.
of course, real TRAP isn't what the current TRAP is...but of course that happened to dubstep too.
either way, i trapped in your trap and I liked it.

Dubstep has been around for quite some time. If you are speaking on the mainstream anal raping of the genre then it will survive long..
