What's the "in" genre these days?
What type of music is everyone out there listening to these days? What's the "big" genre this year so far? After reading on trance.nu that Ibiza has strayed from trance lately, I'm wondering what's popular these days in electronic music.
I was hoping 2002 would be the year of trance, but that doesn't seem to be the case
What does it matter what's in or what's not ? Just listen to what you like... Not to whats on the radio "unless it's trance...& not chesse
" or what everone else listens to... bah... I listen to all sorts of electronice music... Trance being my fav.
i kind of like that future 80s/international gigolo sound but apparently it's on the cover some mainstream electronic mags now so perhaps it might be on the downswing.

breaks
breaks are about to blow up
i can feel it
trancey breaks are good too!
I'd say Trance is the best...but people in my country don't agree with me.
For them the in sound is....Tech House,
progressive House...ect
I don't know excatly why but probably the dj's choose house becasue it's easier to mix....he he he....but that's the truth.

ELectro has blwon up these last couple years...
this year's big album would be Fischerspooner.
If you don't have the whole album,
you're sleeping on it.
I think last year was the the year of House. Many big tunes were realeasede and got lots of airplay and stuff etc.
This coming year (2002/2003) i think is becoming the year of R n B (here in the UK) because many Garage acts are now producing tunes with an RnB style, to cash in and follow a trend.
Trancey stuff will always be popular, but it will be diffiuclt to emulate 99, as people move on to different musical tastes when they grow up.
the Fischerspooner album is pure shit. emerge is the only decent track imho.

there has been a huge surgence (in the scene, not commercially) of techno this year, specially with a load of trance DJs trying their hardest (and mostly failing) to mangle techno into their sets somehow.
Country music is about to emerge in a way you guys have never seen...
GET READY
DnB - Drum 'n' Bass is pretty hot in the UK now, and it will probably explode later this year/next year
Tribal House is the in genre for the 917490317974317471 consecutive year here in Portugal.. Psy-Trance as grown a lot too this year, going close to be as popular as the traditional house and techno. "Euro" Trance continues to be unheard. Progressive trance is slowly, very very slowly, starting its scene.
but here in Madeira Island.. well, it continues to be only Tribal House and cheese
