Question So Cubase is the thing?

Hellouh!

I just wanna know, is the Cubase best thing for Reason if I want those VST-plugins to be in use? I also wanna use Rebirth, but that I can rewire without Cubase, right? Can I use VST-instruments also with Cubase (like FM7 and ABsynth...) or is only for VST-effects (delay and other stuff)?

And some little bird told me that there is Cubase SX... So is this the best version of Cubase?

or is there some other, maybe better program for this?

I know that Orion Platinum has VST support... But I can't use that with Reason?

Yes, you can use any VST instrument with cubase. You can also use them with logic 5 which is good if you are running a mac.

But Reason and Rebirth are not VST. Reason can be synced to cubase though through rewire. Rewire is not associated with cubase, it is associated with reason. Hence reason and cubase can be synched and reason and rebirth can be synched. I'm not sure if you can run from rebirth through reason and into cubase.

Any program that is VST will run with cubase. Some will only run with cubase, while others such as absynth and fm-7 are standalone, so they can run individually as well.

Yes, Cubase is the best program to use if you are running windows. If you are running a mac platform, you may find Logic platinum 5.1 will be better, but i don't know for sure. I believe Acid Pro 4 may also VST but you'll have to check with that.

Cubase will also support DX (direct X) plug-ins as well.

Does that answer your question okay? I'm not quite sure qhat you're asking

and to your other question, Cubase SX is the latest release in the line. I don't know much about it myself but it is suppose to be amazing.

Thanks for helping

Yeah, I am using windows so the Cubase is better...Or best So rewiring Reason to Cubase... And rewiring the Reason to Rebirth... But I can't use Reason, Rebirth and Cubase (=VST-plugins) at the same time?
Only Reason and Rebirth or Reason & Cubase can be used at the same time?

You can use reason with orion platinum, along with vst's.

You *should* be able to use all 3 at the same time but I haven't tried to do that yet so don't quote me on that
And Cubase SX kicks serious ass!

Posted by Tom_cowan on Sep-12-2002 10:07:

Iv never tried but i cant see why you cant, it'l just be a matter of how powerful your pc is.

Does cubase SX only work on XP?

Posted by Joi Lamusic on Sep-12-2002 11:22:

Michael Russo, so I can use Orion Platinum as a "bridge" between Reason and VST-plugins and Rebirth? or can I only use Reason with Orion, not Rebirth alonside also?

if you want to apply VST effects to reason, then you're best off with Cubase. Use Cubase to record the sound files and then run them through a vst effect also in Cubase.

I've heard of people running SX on Win98, but apparently not very well (loads of crackling and latency no matter what their PC specs are).

What kind of soundcards were they running?

I'm not sure if you can use rebirth with reason and orion, however for sure you can use one at a time.

Talk about hefty requirements! Im use to the minimum 133mhz and 32mb of RAM.... I guess this isnt an OS, more or less a resource hogger..

Im using 5.1VST... is that suppose to run well with XP? What is special about SX?
