Winamp or Real Audio, THE debate......

Me and someone are debating.......

question.

What would you rather use for live streams? Winamp or Real Player?

Me, Winamp, hands down. Great equalizer, very customizable, and great plug-ins.

Winamp just has the superior interface ... and everytime I'm using real I feel as though I'm using a commercial product rather than something which is designed to be free.

real player is total shite. So many errors. There is actually a plugin that allows u to stream rm files in winamp. Not sure how reliable that is tho.

Winamp by far.
I only use Real Player when I have to, it's often very slow to load and is extremely buggy.

Winamp all the way. I hate music in .rm format, the only thing I use RealPlayer for is watching cartoons (South Park, Simpsons, Futurama etc)

Unfortunately I don't know of any sites where you can download episodes, same thing with Simpsons. I download episodes from mirc, #spepisodes on irc.spepisodes.com

well i do prefer winamp, but its been proved to me that for a 56k user, real player is alot better quality wise for streamed content compared to a shoutcast stream.

I know winamp is a better media player- The whole discussion was using Shoutcast or Helix Real Server-
Shoutcast = 1 Stream for each bandwidth- Pre Determined Bitrates
Helix- On Demand for any stream and bitrate
One Server - User chooses his bitrate
If someone knows a Shoutcast like server that can do that- I would like to know

Winamp by far, one thing that ticks me off about Realplayer is after it launches once, it automatically places itself in the startup setting and I have it in my tool tray the next reboot.
Then I have to go back into msconfig and get rid of it again
And its ugly too, its layout... boooo to Realplayer, two thumbs up for Winamp

have everything in mpeg except for south park... south park is the only thing i use real player for

Do you have any idea how annoying it is just to download the Free Real Player? They try to get you to buy the Delux version with misleading links.

Winamp is no hastle and I enjoy a 128kbps mp3 stream over a real stream anyday.
