major special surprise guests at ruby Skye October 12/13

Deja vu... Ten days away, nothing listed, not even teaser fliers. I remember when the dj's were not surprises and event posted months in advanced. Thought marquee lv.WA shady for only posting 2 months in advanced max and waiting until the new month to arrive to post a new months lineup even though the bookings are made months in advanced and people already know who's coming when.

Love when my points never need a follow up. Proven on their own.

I have been disappointed before...

Major?? Really?

Jesus. Fuck no. When it was Prydz they hyped it for weeks in advance. Whenever this "no promo no nothing" thing happens they always just book whatever headliner they can grab at the last minute.

This post is just pointless attention whoring from OP.

youve made no points you just try and defend Spundae, for I don't know what BC I've heard, and I quote davet doesn't have anything to do with it not on the payroll etc.

While were at it what gives with Oct 19?

Oh and prydz was not hyped for Weeks BC he wasn't.announced until the day before.

When events get announced with advanced warning I will.cease to post asking about the surprises to be....

Posted by 72hrpartyanimal on Oct-03-2012 01:33:

i'm not on the spundae pay roll but i still consider myself spundae regardless. i think a lot of people consider themselves spundae even though they are not on a spundae pay roll.

is there a problem with not announcing a lineup? what if they don't have a dj booked yet. can't blame spundae as Rubyskye has their own in-house talent booker. so technically, you have to blame Ruby on this.

Posted by bigperf on Oct-03-2012 17:05:

Never blamed anyone..just asked who the major surprise guest DJ for Oct 12 & 13.were...in case anyone knew...plus I never started the major surprise guest DJ at ruby Skye stuff....that started around 2 months ago by Ruby Skye/Spundae.
For the record, i.didn't start the tier 3 club, the headliner/opener status stuff, the fact dragan roganovic likes going by his real name(glad that rider leak thread was posted so people could see that themselves)
hopefully November 9th weekend gets announced soon, you might not believe me but I DON'T want to have to create a thread seeking that info.

ruby skye going downhill, news @ 11

i wonder which club will pick up the slack and be the new go-to in SF, just like when 1015 died out

lol I hate those news teasers..

Posted by 72hrpartyanimal on Oct-03-2012 18:22:

i don't think Ruby will ever be out of the loop. They're kind of like Avalon here in LA. It's a central location with a lot of history. Even if the EDM heads decided to go elsewhere, Ruby would still attract a large commercial crowd.

my opinion though.

what does everyone think of that new club. The Vegas type club which caters to bottle service crowds?

Posted by bigperf on Oct-03-2012 23:16:

Yes must be going downhill, free gl Fri & sat up on the site as opposed to having to be on email lists etc.

Posted by bigperf on Oct-03-2012 23:19:

Freaking a...ruby and Spundae just backing my argument, SURPRISE, menno this Friday. damn never mind fake out fliers, i'm not down with that either.... Guess if veterans day weekend is announced soon ill have to post a thread asking who the real performers will be since we got faked out first Friday of October. fakeout first Friday, i'm copyrighting that.

Hey man!! I hope you are doing well!!

I will do my best to get up to Ruby Skye to check you out.. Although you have had a radical change in your style. Staying away from the uplifting trance?

Posted by darudevil on Oct-04-2012 18:40:

Not fully staying away, but I've definitely slowed down the bpms a little bit and especially in the beginning of the set leaning heavily to prog house & trance and electro & big room flavours. I don't find a lot of amazing uplifting trance anymore, a lot of it is very formulaic & preset-ful with same arpeggiated patterns, rarely anything new and ear-catching. Basically a lot of it is nice music beds, but lacking the main melody part. I'm not going to be humming a 138 bpm 16th note 4 bar arpeggio "melody" the next day... I do go from 128-130 to 135-136 still in a typical set these days. I still go for energy, builds, emotions and FUN, and it seems to be working pretty well, but I do understand if an old trance head is frowning or concerned!

Also, re: the mix you posted: Es Paradis in Ibiza is somewhat of a special spot, think the "mash-up crowd" of Las Vegas and throw in a big bunch of very drunken Brits (no offense anyone!) = no-go for 8 minute uplifting trance tracks... AND the hour was not from the end of my set.

I appreciate your response, it shows your good character!

Can I get a copy of the last hour of the set?!

I'm going to assume that most people on this forum aren't aware of ALL OF THE VARIABLES when it comes to booking a performing artist.

Here are some common ones to consider.

- Promoter
- Venue
- Artist
- Manager
- Agent

now include other possible variables

- quits job
- someone ends up in the hospital
- scheduling conflicts of any kind

there are so many possibilities

and I can say this without defending anyone, because one of my hats is being a graphic designer so I read a lot of the discussions that goes on amongst venues, agents, artists, managers in multiple cities around the country. The same conflicts happen everywhere.

It's amusing reading people's comments, where they think they know what's going on when in reality they have no idea.

God that is bad. The Electro and trance cheese is so uninspiring and predictable. Listen to a deep dish set from 10-12 years ago and it still sounds new and fresh. This is garbage.

Ruby Skye is going downhill for more than just the talent (or lack thereof) they have been booking.

Everyone here knows the difficulty that can go into booking an artist.

While I have no part on the business side, the scene is different in SF right now than it has been in a long, long time IMO. People's music preferences are more diverse than ever, and the locals are more interested in the more intimate feel or the more undergorund feel as there's plenty parties out there that bring just that. And there are a number of DJs who are, I imagine, _expensive_ and even when offering a guestlist, the cost of operating a larger clubs with all its operations (eg. staff) makes it more difficult to handle than a low door cost +bar sales would cover. DJs like SvD and Sasha have had less traction in SF over the years; this isn't any club's or promoter's fault -- it's just how the scene is I am talking DJs who a few years ago could pack large venues no problem and still can in other major cites like LA...but just can't in SF. So you are seeing quite a few DJs booked on weekday nights at smaller venues; where it's just as cheap for them plus those clubs much lower operations overhead. A place like vessel has taken advantage of this. Public Works, too. Starting to see Monarch get in there some. Plenty of others. There just seems to be a lot of smaller venues compared to even five years ago. And these are often DJs we all get excited about....but it means it's taking away from the bigger clubs from booking them as well. Scene is just in chaos, overall, right now in SF.

Hopefully I sounded sober enough in that reply.
