markus Schulz: loves CA OR loves $?
So he's playing all night in Sf & la, he played Vegas yesterday, and oc at the end of the month, neither were open to close
Does he make the same amount for oc as SF? La is nye, and we all know Vegas is the edm capital of the world so the $$$$ is crazy.
Since i'm not in the business figured I'd get clarification from those that are.....I seriously can't imagine the dollar figures being the same for sutra as ruby, he at least makes the extra $ that would otherwise go to the opener & closer, plus their expenses since you've only got one DJ to deal with.
For Davet before he goes to bat for his homie. If Dave was offered work at $200/ hr for 4000 hours in Sf(2 years) does he take it, or does he do a job share with 10 others to spread the salary around(but take a huge personal paycut)
Markus gets $1 million at sutra, $2 million in LA and SF, $10 million in Vegas per hour.
ummm If I am Markus, who just got voted #1 Dj in America. I would be taking all the gigs that come my way, with hopefully the pay bump he got from get that win.
On the otherhand, I think that any DJ, would take all the gigs he can get period right now. Got to ride this wave and put that money in the bank. Never know whats gonna happen tomorrow. Know what I am saying.??
not sure why you seem to imply the two are mutually exclusive
don't the promoters book the DJ's and not vice versa?
he's going to a play a total of 3 times in avalon for 2012, but 2 are due to special events (NYE & LA 12 release party)
LA loves markus, and the promoters are capitalizing off of it, he wouldn't be booked if he didn't have pull here.
he does sutra once a year, this year 2x but with an album release and halloween week at sutra, can chalk it up as a special event.
ruby skye is also 1x a year, but his open to close set is an album release party as well.
he's following his vegas residency gig to a T like last year, the top DJ was again a special event. he played marquee for easter, once in summer, once in nov, and im sure will close it off with xmas as well like last year with a few pool parties sprinkled here and there.
sutra is also a tue night and ruby is a fri..

I can respect that, just make sure we call it as is. He's not doing Sf or la any favors, the guy is getting paid... maybe next year he starts playing 7 hr sets at marquee like kaskade instead of 2.5 hrs, triple his salary! |
i don't think there is a linear supply/demand curve and it works out in our favor in san francisco.
i honestly don't think san francisco could honestly afford some of the djs, but the djs/agencies are willing to discount gigs just so that their dj could do the worldwide circuit of london-nyc-LA-SF-tokyo-vegas-miami-etc.

his talent fee is the same whether he plays 1 hour or he plays 4 hours
if its promoted as a 8 hour set or all night long, there is a small difference to his TF, but not that significant where you can calculate per hour multipled by number of hours
damn Alan... do you just wake up early or go to bed late?

honestly bigperf you think Markus is doing these open-close sets just because of money? that's a bit ridiculous. he'd do them a lot more often in a lot more places if that were the case, in my opinion.
