Trap Music

Anyone liking this new "genre" so to speak? It seems to be making its way from Atlanta Outwards. Sort of a toned down version of Dubstep leaning more towards the hip/hop audience but kids are digging it. I just wanted to see if anyone has some favorite tunes, or if its prominent anywhere else but here.

Bandwagon.

It's just hip-hop instrumentals made by white kids who were really into dubstep.

See... That's what I thought...

Trap music has to be the worst name for a genre of music I've ever heard. What's next? Tranny-Step?

Posted by enydo on Oct-09-2012 15:07:

It's called "trap" because trap is slang for a house/lot/whatever that's usually used for selling drugs.

Yea I just don't get it. I mean its Dubstep without the Bass and Rap Music w/ out the Rap, but with a tad bit more EDM influence. I was just seeing what other people thought of it.

Thank god for this thread.

Have.... You ever listened to trap? Lol? Without the bass? Trap music generally has the most ridiculously bassy kick drums on earth with tails that almost bleed into the following kick.

I'm not a huge fan but I like this track:

It's very much an "only works live" track though.

I think he's talking about the wobble.

I'm not getting that when I look for Trap Music but I like what you posted.. I get shit like this:

That's why I was asking. I was sort of hoping for some Trap Music Direction so I'm not listening to hip/hop instrumentals.

That's trap too. Trap is characterized by the hip-hop style percussion, BPM and rhythm. What's between the kicks is up to you.

See now we're getting somewhere. I think I'm beginning to understand. It just seems like (in the video I posted) and others I've listened to,lacks the really hardcore bass that I'd think would be prevelant in a new genre of EDM. Personally, I'd prefer to listen to more of the stuff like what you posted, yet, I'm encountering weak ass instrumentals and that's not at all what I'm after. Not that I'm going ot be djing this stuff, but its nice to have a couple of mixed cd's laying around and a few tracks here and there as well. I'm definitely more of a house & trance guy but like I said..
