If you spend your life on the road and play guitar it looks good, otherwise, hmmmm.

So what do you recommend for trance ?

Posted by Tom_cowan on Sep-12-2002 16:20:

A PC running Reason would be better for basic production, get some synth sample cds n load em on to the reason samler and you can get very proffesional results, then if you want to use hardware get cubase and a descent sound card and use cubase as your mixer. Ne help?

K.. thats where i am right now, and my trance sounds pretty professional.. but i want 2 go up to a higher leval !

so i want to buy a drum machine and a sequencer, and slowly build myself a studio...

im sure that a good drum machine will be alot better sounding then redrum, and a good sequencer and some synths will sound better then subtraktor and matrix !!

So i only wanted to know what drum muchine can u recommend for me ?!

I recommend redrum over a drum machine. If you want more sounds, just buy a drum sample CD, but I highly recommend against buying a drum machine. Trust me, I have an er-1, and its just so much more conveniant working with drums in reason, not to mention they sound better, and are easier to apply fx.

dont get me wrong, a drum machine is good for live performance, but I'd leave it at that.

Now a synth can be a big improvement in sound, but only if you spend the money to get a really good one. dont waste money on an average one, or you'll see yourself using he subtraktor more than ur synth!

Get a Virus!

Posted by coby on Sep-13-2002 09:38:

ohh... but the hole point is that i hate working with reason, cuz its
boring to sit for hours programing your trance...

How dos lets sey d.j diesto make his music ?!

im sure he dosnt use reason, so how dos it sound more professional ?

i guess my question is what do i need 2 make gr8 sounding trance without using software ?!?!

Posted by Tom_cowan on Sep-13-2002 10:56:

Tiesto uses a computer based sequencer just like 99.99% of professional trance producers im afraid. Get a midi keyboard if you dont wana program stuff in and get a descent synth, you'l love programing if the end product is good.

that sux ...

so what the fuck is a studio for ?!!

Posted by Tom_cowan on Sep-13-2002 12:44:

They just use the sequencer to control the hardware, the audio all gets put together on a hardware mixer.

Posted by DJ Chrono on Sep-13-2002 20:10:

yeah, generally making trance with a full studio setup is very similar to using reason, except you have real knobs to tweak.

the hardware is to get different, generally better, sounds.

Posted by randummboy on Sep-13-2002 20:21:

chrono.. what midi keyboard are you using.. the oxygen 8 if i remember correctly?

Posted by DJ Chrono on Sep-14-2002 03:33:

nope, Im using the roland pc-70.

except one of my keys broke.

i like the way it looks, and it has enough keys to work with.

Idea

go for an rm1x for sequencing, crappy sounds (can sound good in the mix with effects) but kickass 16 track sequencer. and they are cheap ass from ebay now.

S thats y i want 2 get a drum muchine , so i can start building my studio till i have what reason has

But until you get a full studio, good luck to ya, why dont u use a combintation of software and hardware. N i still advise getting a synth rathe rthan a drum machine.
