dancing astronaut...tabloid or legit edm source?

The boys in Sf said that Roger Sanchez/stealth was in legal trouble, and the sman was likely headed behind bars...Roger denies this of course....seems like tabloid material.
The only person involved with da resigned recently, so I don't know if he is of help.

DA is a bunch of entitled college kids who think they're hot shit because they have a semi-popular dance blog lol.

they're literally tools - DJs talk to them, let them in the booth etc to use them for free marketing/publicity. they only write good things about the DJs that tweet them, etc.

basically new age groupies.

Nice, thanks for keeping it real. The only guy I know personally resigned yesterday.....he happened to open for Roger & Sydney Nov 2010 @ vessel which is when I met him. He's a huge fan of Roger. What a coincidence on the timing!

BP - the story is real about Roger.

http://stealth-records.com/

what i've heard is that he's being sued by his former manager/agent for $400 or $500K. the person that sued him in Germany got the courts there to put out the US warrant and make him appear for the suit.

Yikes
Jeez can't blame the sman if he found better representation....I'll have to ask George about this.

yep pretty crazy huh? business disputes happen all the time but for a warrant to be put out and they took over his website is pretty out there.

btw you know he's playing at Lure next week, right?

Pshh I knew he was playing at lure before he knew he was playing at lure. No thanks though, tickets are $40 for 10:30-2am....
Oh wait, I don't need a ticket! Nah its a Thursday night. Missing the December 14 sf gig by one week too, maybe he'll play Vegas Dec 15.

DA is good for quick glance info that is out there in my opinion, but most of the stories and what not on the site are really horribly written, and the authors in generally really seem to lack knowledge on the subjects they write about (too many times I've said to myself, "God, do these people do any research prior to writing this stuff?")

The story about Roger is semi-true, in that he is being sued, and certainly could be arrested if he fails/failed to appear for the law suit given the amount of money involved. Suck for Roger regardless.

I know Olga personally, so I have a lot of insight on this. Unfortunately due to the legalities and the situation surrounding this I can't/won't say much. I can just say Roger needs to pay up because he pulled a few shady moves in the past few years, it's been an ongoing issue...

Posted by Cool1g on Oct-18-2012 00:18:

anyone notice the agency is called 'Unmanageable Artists'? maybe Roger took that a bit too literally???

Posted by henryv on Oct-18-2012 01:19:

Not a legit source. They pull a lot of their stories from other blogs and sources.

BTW...who really cares? it's roger sanchez...

As a person that's tried to maintain an EDM blog, I will tell you it's quite hard. Hard to find quality stuff to write about, and hard to get a community going. There are lots of people that go to EDM shows and rage, but when it comes to actually being interested in the music, the DJs behind it, etc., there are much fewer people in that camp. A lot of them are on this board. You will see that a lot of the comments on DA are similar to the comments on DJ's FB posts:

"DAMN can't wait for Ultra! Gonna rage my face off!"
"Wow this post is fucking stupid, fuck u, David Guetta is way better"
"Fuck avicii, he's so mainstream"

Nothing thoughtful, most of the time. And the posts themselves are oftentimes not thoughtful - "hey here are 5 cool tracks that we like!" "hey here are some reviews... of east coast shows only!"

That being said, DA is trying to legitimize the scene at least a little bit, and I respect them for that. I think that if people were more involved (the readers), the content would be better too, but I gave up on that long ago. The scene is "growing" but not really from the perspective of people wanting to learn more about the DJs or the music. Just more people wanting to get fucked up at shows. For every 100 new attendees of EDC or Ultra, 1-2 of them will actually go home and read blogs, etc. That's what it seems like to me. I feel like I'm the EDM historian or something. Most of my friends who are in the scene still don't really know much besides when the next show is.

Well said.

Many times my passion for all things EDM goes away entirely for some of the reasons stated above. I respect anyone trying to run their own EDM oriented site/blog/etc. because it takes a lot of work to get noticed. For the most part, the scene is full of fly-by-nighters who start up a blog/fan page and then spam themselves everywhere and offer little in terms of content.

For years nothing pleased me more than posting livesets and the occasional single for download on TA - to provide exposure to the artist(s) / etc. All that came crashing down one day (a very long time ago) when I gave up fighting against people wanting to sue me/shut me down for having mp3s (I wanted to make sure the forum kept going at all costs) - so, I stopped those updates. Now, looking around, in a mixcloud/soundcloud world, it's laughable that I ever got in trouble for that.

We are spoiled with easy access to music these days... and as long as you have the music that's all that matters -- reading about it/researching it is reserved for the select few die hards who give a a shit. Nothing wrong with getting your 'rage' on but for many it's just the natural progression to binge drinking. lol

Nero is a master. I try to push his buttons once in while but end up getting burnt in the end.
