Israelis posing as Candians?

I just saw on CBC that Israel Intel had exploited a Palestinen for giving up intelligence. However, the Israelis were posing as Canadians trying to get information out of a Palestianian in exchange for a citizenship in Canada. The intel the Palestinian provided to the Israeli "Canadians" was the location of a Hamas member. So, the israelis attacked some place and killed 1 Hamas member and 19 civilians.

What gets me the most is why the Israeli govt has to ruin the Canadians reputation.

take it as a compliment, that a palestinian wanted a canadian citizenship since you have a great country to live in... i dont think it would have worked the same if they were offering citizenship to slovenia (nothing agianst you slovs here)

now, compare lying to some guy in order to get info you want, to a guy planning on blowing himself off in a cafe at a university and you can understand why israel is put to such actions. what harm does a lie like that have when you save the lives of so many innocent civilians. now in this particular case palestinian civilians were hurt and killed during the attack on the hamas memeber, this is wrong. now i am not familiar with this particular incedent but there was probably either a valid reason for how the innocent died or the people involved with the operation were punished (as is the way the IDF operates).

further-more there are two sides to a story, do you want me to give you examples where palestinians have committed identical acts (if not worse). Many times palestinians will steal IDF uniforms and wear them on kidnapping missions. they will be driving in a car and offer to pick up hitchikers (civilians, soldiers, and there was even a case with international tourists). now these hitchhikers see a pair of men dressed in israel army uniform and think they will have a safe trip only to find out that they are now kidnapped in the hands of terrorsits who use them as bait for political means.
