Going 1$ record shopping tomorrow

I can't wait! It's been too long. I'm hoping to find some gems, but we'll see.

How many of you do this on a regular basis? Any cool experiences?

GIMME.

Facebook is boring so excite me c0r.

Last time I went record shopping of any kind was in Japan almost 2 years ago.

BTW if you are ever in Kobe, there is a shit ton of awesome record stores in that city, especially under the tracks at Motomachi station, lots of cool little shops with random ass electronics and stuff from 20 years ago.

I do a lot of second hand record shopping, although admittedly not for a while. $1 (or 1) gems are a rarity, but I've picked up some of my favourite ever records for a couple of pounds second hand. I found Earth Volume 1 by LTJ Bukem for 1 in the Vinyl Exchange in Manchester, and I've played it to absolute death.

I've had some very productive trips to charity shops, the most recent resulted in this...

there are no records here...that being said i still get tons of cool shit on discogs for almost the same price. There was a pawn shop in montreal that used to have records for a dollar. I can remember picking up like 6 releases in Morgan Geist's back catalog. Even if the tracks are shit, everything can be sampled...especially those weird FX/voice over 7 inches from the 50's and 60's.

Where at y000?

hong kong is not china. do you trust a link, or a guy that actually lives here. knowledge by internet makes you look like a gay.

that shenzhen record store doesn't exist anymore. i live in shenzhen. one place had u2 records...i'm not talking about shit records, i'm talking proper shit. not everyone understands house music.

and hong kong gets only popular releases a year later. discogs wins. i haven't seen one dj play wax here. I am the only son.

You shipped all your vinyl to China?

Playing vinyl may be sexier than digital, but you can never pretend Discogs is as sexy as second hand trawling.

Found these today for 1 dollar:

-Old Laurent Garnier woo!

(P.S. the original is an awesome piece of dnb, can't find it on youtube)

-All I could find on youtube was the Salt City Mix, but the one I got was a promotional copy not for resale one.

Other ones I got were a miss.

It was fun though, going through crates and crates of records blindly picking amidst the droves of Santana and Ricky Martin albums

it isn't remotely close to a good physical dig, i agree. it is however better than nothing, and it is way easier if you are looking for an exact item. i like to go through random releases to try and find an obscure gem...but yeah, it isn't as good.

i didn't bring all of my records to china. that would be quite impossible. i just brought roughly 250, and ordered a few since then. they excess baggage fee paid for itself pretty quickly, although when i was on the plane my paranoia that they would be lost was extreme.
