-- Weed and Parkensons Disease
Weed and Parkensons Disease
I consider myself fairly comfortable with any amount of pot use, I smoke a few times a week, generally 3 or 4 times. But anyways, depending on how much I smoke I sometimes get this weird twitching reaction. It could better be described as involentary movement I suppose, I find it hard to stay still, my leg will shoot in a direction every once in a while, or tighten/loosen the muscles. I have talked to my doctor about this and he said to get more exercise which I have done, I go for bike rides often and hit the punching bag regularily. I have heard that it is possible I have parkensons disease and the pot is increasing the intensity of the disease. I have also heard that I may be hyper glycemic. Basically it means I pump out too much insulin when I have sugar.
What I wanted to ask if anyone else has had these effects or knows if pot is known to be a heightener or a lowerer in blood sugar levels.
Note that I am on prozzac, perhaps that effects me too?
I also have these sudden movements sometimes
It could be very well (prozac or illegal) drug related, but I also have it when I went skiing for a day. In my bed it feels like I'm still skiing.
Maybe it has got to do with the fact that weed weakens muscles. But off course, after a day of skiing you lost a lot of energy (low sugar levels)
Anyway, eat and sleep well! That's so important!
Thanks dude, yah I dont really worry all that much about it. Just a little annoying if my friends see it
Weed is actually one of the best medicines this world knows
It works for
-people with eating problems
-people who have trouble sleeping
-MS patients
-Lung diseases (off course the weed is vaporized)
etc etc
Prozac then again is a legal form of XTC.
I guess we both have simular nerve systems
prozac suck0rz

To the extent that pot smoking causes "the munchies," it will increase blood sugar levels and may have a significant role in causing and/or worsening Type II diabetes as well as increasing your hyperglycemia, so be careful.
As far as pot and Parkinson's, there's no pathology that links one to the other.
Hope this helps.
If you are worried about Parkinson's Disease, check out http://www.diseases-explained.com/
Also, try looking to the 3 brain drugs: dopamine, seratonin and i think tryptomine
When marijuana or cocaine or extasy is injected or smoked etc, the pleasure drug in the brain (seratonin) will rise creating a sense of increased pleasure. When you are not using drugs, dopamine levels are then low and it may feel like you need more weed to feel high. Therefore, your brain will rely on an external source of dopamine (weed), therefore your brain wont produce enough dopamine since you are already getting it from an external source. (does this make sense). The take home message here is that once your brain depends on dopamine, low levels of this drug are naturally produced by the brain. The relation is that Parkinson's disease is directly caused by a lack of dopamine in your system.
Prozacc and weed together??hmmm, since prozacc targets levels of either (serotonin or dopamine) thats almost like a double negative affect on your body.
my advice, see a doctor
what you appear to be suffering from is myoclonus (clonic spasm or twitching of a muscle or group of muscles)
This is actually a well known side effect of prozac (please call it fluoxetine - it pisses of the drug companies). I don't know much about weed but i assume it exacerbates the problem.
Drug causes of parkinson do not include SSRIs (eg fluoxetine) but i have no idea about weed. did you know that tobacco smoking is protective for parkinson's disease.
When you have too much insulin you become hypo rather than hyperglycemic. changes in glucose levels usually don't cause too many symptoms unless it is at the extreme ends of the spectrum. if you are worried about glucose levels get a glucose tolerance test.
One more thing.
The shaking may infact be due to pot smoking, but it's not Parkinson's related. Pot causes your blood vessels to expand. So if your smoking pot, your blood vessels dialate and your body gives off alot of heat. Once the effects of pot wear off, your body notices that its below its optimal temerature range and starts to compensate for this by shivering/shaking.
Thanks again guys, I am seeing a doctor tomorrow and hopefully he can have answers. I just hope I dont have to go for any blood tests or anything

i get automatic movements.....normally to slap some stupid mofo upside da head......happens automatically now.....dunno if it is a disease or what.
man.. i'm pretty sure its ur prozac, i've never heard or seen people twitching cuz of weed, but then everyone is different so u maybe the extreme case. about weed and expanding blood vessels, i don't see how that causes twitching.. tobacco smoke expands them as well as your lungs which increases toxin absortion and thats y most people smoke cigs to make whatever ur doing better (drinkin', smoking herbs, speed, E, watever floats ur boat).. cigs just do that, hehe thats y u smoke a ciggy after bonin' a girl.. anyways, u should educate urself about Parkinson's too because ur sudden but jerky movements are not really example of parkinson's (i actually don't know to wat extent u have these twitches because i can't see u) but my grandfather passed away from Parkinson's a year ago but i was around to see his battle w/ this disease. in a nutshell, it is not a twitch.. more like a shaking.. i used to do a lot of drugs and had developed a weird shake in my left hand which now has stopped but at the time it was bad enough that i couldn't do things that required detailed control of that hand.. (i'm not talking about something like threading a needle which is hard even if u are really coordinated) but lets say if i had to draw a straight line on a piece of paper it would look really fucked up, but since im right handed i can't draw well w/ my left hand anyways but thats the best example i can think of.. however, that drug was not weed so thats y im saying your problem most likely stems from the Prozac which will affect your nervous system in different ways then weed.
I've always thought it was based largely on the prozzac too. Drugs artent the answer to all of life's problems, I wish the doctors would figure that out
you can't get parkinson's disease from blowing...weed is not harmful to your brains at all...
