Quality (??) Progressive Trance - Avatar One & Michael Try - 'Chasing Sunsets'

Hey all,

Avatar One & Michael Try - Chasing Sunsets (Work In Progress) by AvatarOne

I'm currently working on a collaborative track with a US producer called Michael Try. It's an atmospheric progressive trance track. This track is being made entirely in Studio One Pro, which I bought earlier this year and really love. I'm using Sylenth1, Omnisphere and Reaktor (Razor) for the synths. The drums come from Studio One's 'Impulse' drum machine I've tried to give real depth and width to the sound. I've recently moved house, and this is only the second track I've made here - in my untreated bedroom, so hopefully the mixing is OK!

Mike

EDIT:

Here's some more of the track...a dubstep section which took about 8 hours to do this afternoon Razor does most of the bass, Omnisphere does the FX and Sylenth provides the stabs.

Very nice track preview, but I really dont like 0:52 - 0:58 part..sounds a little unpleasant. Besides that, sounds great! Very nice

Thanks for giving it a listen Miikka. When you say unpleasant, do you mean in terms of frequencies which are hurting your ears, or aesthetically?

Hmm maybe both, but 56-58 seconds really hurt my ears. Im at work and listened with cheap sennheiser headphones.

Studio One 2 Pro x64, but only from February this year. I used to use Ableton Live 8, and before that Reason

Ok, I just had a thought about a collaboration, your sound is so close to mine I also made few tracks with Studio One but i had one single problem: no global undo.. That messed up some tracks for me so I changed back to Ableton

I really like this track. Deep and rich sounds.

Hey mate,

The lack of global undo is a real pain in the ass, it's messed me up a few times now, and it sucks. I was just sick of the lack of 64 bit support in Live, although now it does do that. However, there's something about the 'sound' of Studio One which I really like - I could be imagining that though...

I would definitely be interested in a collaboration, although I'm not sure how the logistics would work - lots of bouncing down to audio? I can work in Live 8 too, obviously. My 3 main synths (the only ones in Chasing Sunsets) are Sylenth1, Omnisphere and Reaktor (Razor). My main reverb and delay units are Valhalla Room and Rob Papen Delay, and I also use the Oxford suite of effects (transient modifier, limiter, Inflator etc). I tend to use Studio One's native EQ and compressor.

I'm working on an EP of atmospheric breaks type stuff at the moment, which is taking up most of my time, but as I said, I am interested in doing something together

Mike
