Jan Johnston Update

i don't think a lot of you have subscribed to Jan Johnston's newsletter, which comes 3 or 4 times a year, so i'll share it with you all.

- Jan has just returned from Amsterdam where she has once again been working with DJ Tiesto. She has just recorded "Venus", a song she wrote to a piece of Tiesto music. Anyone who has heard previous collaboration "Close To You" on DJ Tiesto's "In My Memory" album will be waiting with baited breath for this one! No date to give you as yet, but we are told this will be released "very very soon ...".

- ...Those of you who can't get enough of JJ on MTV will be glad to hear they will be shooting the video for (Cosmic Gate's "Raging (Storm)") in the next few weeks.

- Another track on the cards for release is a song Jan has written for Johan Gielen and partner Sven. "Ocean" is another track that will be shooting a video in the next few weeks with a possible Miami location. This ties in to the next news ...

- ... which is one thing I know you guys in the US will be very happy to hear. Jan goes over to the USA in the next few weeks (October-ish), to gig around the States. No set dates or locations as yet, but this has been on the cards for some time so will definitely happen this year. Of course you will be kept posted when any dates are confirmed, I'll email out via the newsletter when the first dates are confirmed and the site will be updated with all dates.

- Right now Jan is working on Paul van Dyk's music for his album which should be due around June next year. I know Jan is really excited about this one and considers herself honoured to work with such "amazing music" and amazing artists. A while to wait for this one, but plenty of projects on the go which means your JJ fix should be satisfied all year round!

- There is a Timo Maas vs Jan Johnston white label floating around. Word from Perfecto (both Jan and Timo's label) is if you come across this, it's a bootleg and has nothing to do with Jan, Timo, or Perfecto.

- According to Perfecto, the next single from Jan Johnston on the Perfecto label will be "Flesh 2002" and is to be released in October. Keep a check on the Perfecto site for details.

- Jan is about to do a cover song for Paul Oakenfold and Perfecto with two producers Daniel Divioli and Larry Lush. She can`t say what it is until its done, but the vocals will be done this week.....

- Jan has re-written "Calling Your Name". This was a track originally called "The Prayer" and was a B-side to the CD single of Jan's release "Paris" (check the discog). The track was made famous by one Mr BT, when the vocal was sampled a few years later and released as Libra featuring Taylor - Anomaly (Calling Your Name). So it is getting a brand new spin, Jan has written wonderful new verses to complement the famous chorus that everyone now knows, and this should be released on Platipus some time round November this year.

and if you still can't get enough of Jan, she just had an interview with artistinterviews.com, where she explained her new album "Emerging" isn't released yet because most songs there aren't trance-friendly, so she had to "go back to the drawing board". the redo will have 15 songs, all progressive trance.

I would like to see the Raging video when it is realesed and to also hear flesh 2002.
