Unhappy R.I.P. Cream

"It's the end of an era for the UK club scene, as Cream shuts its doors for good.

This past July, Cream operations at Nation in Liverpool, England were put on temporary hold for a 30-day review of its future plans. Scheduled to reopen sometime September, they have just announced that it in fact will not be reopening.

However, their annual festival Creamfields will remain unaffected by this decision. Moreover, they will still celebrate their 10th anniversary party at the club.

A spokesman for Cream stated: "It's unfortunate that something that we've been involved in for the last ten years isn't performing as well."

Man,this sucks.First Twilo,now Cream...who's next?

cream spent far too much money on big name expensive line ups week in week out, so it basically dug its own grave, the same almsot happpend to gatecrasher, but gatecrasher looks ok now, por at least for the time being

I was thinking the same thing.I mean, every single time I saw a Cream-ad,it was always filled to the brim with Class A-djs.I always kept thinking, how the hell could they afford something like this?

Posted by SlinkySkev on Sep-14-2002 17:19:

bum

Its a shame. Cream always had a good mixture of all genres of electronic dance music.

Fuck clubbing...the scene was so much cooler back in '90-'95. I hope all the big clubs burn and e-tard clubbers with them. I'm tired of seeing clubs with dumb college kids puking all over themselves.

Take the govt and their fucking restrictions off clubs worldwide.....and maybe you'll find an exponential growth of the clubbing scene.

The producing scene has always been growing. It's the lack of talented DJs with their own style to attract the clubs....

Twilo = New York Ex-governor and his mates who decided that Twilo polluted NYC. Conspiracy if you ask me.

Cream = supposedly uninterested shareholders who have decided to venture elsewhere. Let's face it....the UK is still pretty tough on Ecstasy and pyschedelic drug use in the the clubs.

Try venturing to Ibiza, most of the clubs there which opened there 15 years ago are still alive and kicking. Bribe some officers and you can easily set your own club up...sell expensive tickets, drinks, drugs...you name it you have it.

It's all about geographical, economical and political influences present in a clubbing scene. Think about it...the reasons are unlimited.

Propoganda is done on behalf of the Cream supporters over the decade...the truth..only the managment and government has the insiders.

Cream has no doubt generated lots of revenue....take a look at their different financial departments....no surprise if they made over 10 million GBP anuually...and I mean easily...

Nothing lasts forever...even if they do....we'll not live to see the future of Cream....

i think they should rebuild themselves financially through creamfields wouldnt that help? and amen to the last post because i knoe of the govt and its restrictions and falsified accusations and improper blame placement. I live in houston and so far they have shut down all raves or parties watever u wanna call it, and then the only club that brings and offers class djs has a court date 3 weeks from now on whether or not its gonna be shut down this club is hyperia. I mean the govt makes it very hard to runa GOOD club and be profitable thses days R.I.P. Cream wat a wonderful place wasted......

I think this statement places DJ Nuclear firmly in this section of clubber stereotypes:

quote:
18. THE CYNIC

The cynic has been there, done that and got the t-shirt; or so they say. They sneer at everything; clubbings not as good as it used to be, the musics not as good as it used to be, the message boards not as good as it used to be, the trees arent as good as they used to be . If anyone ever has anything positive to say about clubbing, the cynic will always meet it with a negative response; nah you dont know what real clubbing is, real clubbing was Shoom in 88, much better than the schit.com youre going on about. The cynic deserves pity for hanging onto the idealism of the past, and what does having fun mean again?

I've personally never seen anyone pukle over themselves whilst clubbing, mustn't happen over here
@ the Cynic thingy
Cream never really appealed to me, although I'd heard some amazing stories, the atmosphere was supposed to be incredible.
About this superclub thing, I haven't actually decided whether or not everythign dying out is a good thing. It means places like Passion and Frisky get better lineups a couple of times a month, and you don't have to play over the odds to get in. I pay 3 to get into frisky, Last Friday it was Matt Hardwick and Cosmic Gate, the other week it was Airwave and Eddie Halliwell, Dumonde are regulars, as is M.I.K.E, so if a little club like Frisky can get these kind of names, can't be all bad can it?
