idiot questions about Pro Tools
1. what does Pro Tools do?
2. can a producer use Pro Tools LE as a standalone software?

3. why one needs Pro Tools when he has Logic Audio, Cubase, and/or Reason?
i've seen producers swear by Pro Tools, saying all they need are Logic Audio and Pro Tools (Pablo da Rosa), how they created a song with Buzz Tracker and did post-production with Pro Tools (that's how Sasha created Bloodlock). being the most expensive and widely-used software across the industry, what does Pro Tools do? is it a virtual mixing desk or it's far more than that? thanks in advance for any enlightening.
Don't worry about PT... the DSP's that do all the processing, so it's more than something like cubase, but midi isn't so great. The plugins for it are very expensive (but good... for example, you can get an access virus plugin that sounds identical to the hardware version.) It's nice for working with audio, and it sounds great... but i don't know why you'd want to blow 15 grand for a BASIC pro tools system.
