I haven't been to Charlotte in a long while. How is the place in which this event occurs?

I'm intrigued about the possibility of going but am not interested in another over packed douchebag factory where one has to bribe the guy at the door 50 bucks just to get past the line before 3am.

yup, I am still alive and kicking. Phoenix is the old Forum which was the old Mythos. pretty cool crowd shows up every time. There will be no bribing needed at the door as it is run professionally

Okay perhaps my whining was a bit exaggerated, I tend to do that, I shouldn't let crappy past experiences with pvd nights in the past in other cities make me gun shy about going out to the big headliners, but it is hard to help.

I just really hate that vip velvet rope feeling, like everyone is judging you if you aren't sweating money.

this club still holds an upscale feel without the hassle.

This party was off the chain rediculous. Best set from PVD I've heard in years.

VIP table, great friends, partying until the sun came up. Love Charlotte, and can't wait until the next one!

I had a nice time, didn't see a single person I knew there, but then again the crowd was so packed that one tends to get lost. That and it has been years so it is likely that everyone either looks different or has grown up. Its hard to converse with people when going to an event alone, perhaps all the friends I had were my friends because of whatever girl I had at my side at the time. Then again, who converses at PvD, I flailed obnoxiously and generally didn't give a fuck, thankfully there is nobody to tag me in things, pretty sure I looked stupid.

The set was very nice, much better than my last encounter with PvD at a large club.

glad you had a good time. yeh Charlotte has managed to attract a newer young crowd which is overall good for the scene.

resurrecting this old thread... anyone going to see Markus Schulz @ the Phoenix on the 16th?

I've been traveling to Charlotte for work and might check this out, how is the crowd there? It's also on a Tues night... any idea what time the party will wrap up? Thanks!

Haven't bought my tickets yet, but my friends and I will probably check it out. KhoMa is playing right before Schulz too, which should make it more interesting. The official closing time is 2AM, but lately I've seen a lot of the sets ending around 2:30-2:45ish. As for the crowd, I really can't say. Some nights you'll have a boring crowd, and other nights it'll be rocking. At least you don't have to worry about a Pacha-like guido-fest all while being jammed in a sardine can.

The club is the only club to have a late night permit in Charlotte but they dont hardly use it. They mainly use it as a buffer for the headliners that refuse to stop by 2:15am

expect it to end between 2:00 and 2:45am. I travel for a living as well and when I have to work the next day and a party is in the city I am in, I am happy to see earlier closing times.

the crowd is fun, your best chance at a non-doucey setting in Charlotte comes from Phoenix. DJs like this club and tend to come back over and over, I can deff think of 4 times Markus has been there before, PVD has been at that club 4 times since 2003. Its worth checking out
