Ziptnf - Fractal Geometry [high-tech psytrance]

This mix is definitely my strongest effort in showcasing the most complex psytrance I could find with the maximum level of energy possible. I listened to and sorted through thousands of tracks to prepare for this mix; the artists I selected are far and above the best producers of full-power psytrance. To finish out the year, I'm laying the hammer down with my most intense mix yet.

Biogenesis - Funk-Daddy Brakes [Nutek]
Freeze & Punchline - Electrical Signals [Nutek]
Vibraddict & Sycmos - Up & Down [B.A.B.A]
Underbeat & Masticate - Elephant [DNA]
Bliss - Stay Sharp [Nutek]
CPU & Biogenesis - BreakBots [Nutek]
Dapanji & Mystical Complex & Programind - Bass Download [Phantasm]
Brain Driver & Jaws Underground - Next Generation [Infractive Digital]
Damage vs Wired - Fight The Aliens [Terror Lab]
Azax Syndrom & Dapanji - Wake Me Up [Drive]
Brainwash & Magneto - I Have a Voice [Fractal]
BPM - Dancefloor Demolition Squad [Geomagnetic]
Brainwash - The Rebel [Fractal]
Iron Madness & Dapanji - Radio Head [Biomechanix]

Ziptnf - Fractal Geometry (1:06:38) 153MB ~320kbps

Play it loud, folks. Thanks for all the support for the past 4 years! Not stopping anytime soon!

Downloading! Gonna try to save it for the next time my friends and I take a "journey".

I love all of your mixes, by the way. I'd say "Inhuman Massacre" is still my favorite. Everyone I play it for loves it, no matter their typical genre preference.

Running will happen. To this.

Gonna throw this to my friend. He'll love it.

Totally jealous of you guys having a "journey". I need to have one of those myself

Heh, that's awesome. I didn't think dark tech-trance was so easily accessible

Thanks for passing it along, George!

And Jack, I look forward to hearing your thoughts. I hope some other people give me some feedback, there have been 150 listens on soundcloud and only two sorta half-reviews.

Yes, please take your time. It used to drive me crazy when Magadansky would listen to high-energy mixes of mine when he was feeling depressed, just so he could get in a review.

If you have a day in the future where you know you are going to be doing an intense workout, or you know you're going to be on a lot of drugs, or you feel like you want to go insane one evening, definitely be prepared to put this on.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Dec-13-2012 20:20:

Will have to wait a while for my review too - I seem to have jarred my knee from running so have decided to lay off this weekend, and it's too dark and cold to run after work during the week.

Posted by ziptnf on Dec-13-2012 20:28:

Yikes. Get better, Jack.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Dec-13-2012 20:38:

It's nothing major, the joint on the outside of my left knee just feels a bit sore if I exert it. I've done a couple of Bond-movie-esque sprints for buses this week, dodging past terrified bystanders at breakneck speed, so I can still run. I just think 10k+ distances would turn it into a full-blown problem.

Posted by ziptnf on Dec-13-2012 20:49:

I still battle with the shin splints these days. I'm looking to next year already, making schedule changes, lifestyle changes, diet changes, and upgrading my exercise to where it needs to be.

But on your knee, definitely rest it for a while. Ice and heat and all that jazz.

In the rather unlikely event I ever become a jazz musician, this will be the name of my album.

Bump.

Has anybody listened yet? I'm not talking about Jack and Dave, they can take their sweet ass time, but I've literally only gotten a couple comments from random people and there are over 300 listens. Speak up!

I tried, but I haven't really found an opportunity yet. I put it on but I kind off zoned out after 50 or so minutes cause it got a bit samey and didn't feel much like a bedroom headphone experience. I'll hammer it out somewhere during holiday festivities.

I mean it's really intense, even yin's reign didn't give me this much trouble.

I have found if you listen to it while doing something that requires you to move a lot (listening with headphones while cleaning the house is good, my buddy ben was listening while snowboarding and said it was awesome, maybe if you're going running/biking) it will help the experience and you might enjoy it more.

Shew boy, you got that right lol. This music raises my heart rate significantly, even when resting. Yin's reign doesn't even come close to this type of energy.

My knee is fucked up pretty badly, actually. It's been getting worse all week. I've been trying to get a doctor's appointment but I can't fit one in around work and Christmas, so I'm actually thinking about checking into A&E tomorrow morning to find out what's wrong with it.

Damn, man. Have you still been exercising while it's been fucked up? You gotta get a brace and stay off it, do some physical therapy. Ice and heat and all that jazz

I had to dash for a couple of buses, but nothing more than that. It's a weird pattern - I'll wake up in the morning with no pain, but by the time I've got to work, the short walks to and from the bus starts it aching. By the time I get in at the end of the day, I have pain going underneath my kneecap and shooting down my calf. It seems bending my knee makes it ache, and keeping my leg straight makes it subside. I've had a lot of knocks and little injuries from running and physical activity, but I've never known anything with this pattern to it, and to be more painful two weeks on than at the time. Definitely starting to get worried. It's only the fact the weather has been so appallingly shitty recently that I haven't been cursing my inability to go running.

This mix, in particular, makes me want to purchase a very fast car and drive through big city streets at unsafe speeds. Nice work on this.

Listened to it on a "journey" with friends like I said I would.

Had visuals going along with it, and everything was awesome. All the sights and sounds were blending together perfectly. I remember at one point saying "The music doesn't sound that fast, but I KNOW it's gotta be fast..."

So, in short, it did a damn good job as a full-on psytrance mix.

Now make another dark trance one!

Man, that's rough. Are you doing any therapy with it? Beyond just resting it, I mean. Perhaps you should consult a professional, or read up on how to stop the pain through slow exercises that help build the strength back up in it. Don't let it get any worse, mate.

Thanks, Eddie. I was really looking forward to your thoughts, because I know you heard Advanced Weaponry last year. How do you think the two mixes compare? In my opinion, Advanced Weaponry doesn't even hold a candle to the energy level in this mix. I find that AW feels more like a regular full-on mix in comparison. I've never created a mix of stuff this powerful before.

I played this mix at around 146 BPM, so not too fast but not too slow. Juuust right for a psytrance mix

Beyond that, did you like the musical content? What did your friends think?

I hope it was a little bit distinct from your average full-on mix

Oh dear, you're going to have to wait for a while for that. Stay tuned, something like that may pop up in the back half or at the end of next year.

I think you're right. Advanced Weaponry has a lot more aggression, which may be hard to detect given the over-all kinetics of your typical track selections. In terms of outright energy, however, this wins hands down. It's also one of your more melodic mixes. (I still haven't gotten around to listening to the mix you referenced earlier but I'm planning on hearing it during Christmas break.) This was genuinely fun to hear and really, really well mixed.

We don't listen to a lot of proper psytrance, mostly progpsy stuff, techno, trance, prog, etc., but everyone enjoyed it. The flow was excellent. When it was done, they wanted to hear more of your mixes (they'd already heard/loved Inhuman Massacre), so I put on one of the others (maybe Advanced Weaponry?), and after a few tracks they said it felt like little machines were trying to enter their brains through their ears, so we started playing old Tiesto Magik CDs instead.

Hahaha I might know what part of Advanced Weaponry where you guys stopped. Probably the Mad Maxx track. But hey, I'm glad you guys had a good time. I need a journey myself.
