Connection Problems

OK. First off, thanks, Bizz and all you guys for putting this together. I think I can speak for most of the people here when I say that your efforts are greatly appreciated

Now to the issue. I know I am not the only one having this problem connecting to the Hub because I've read through every single post in this forum. I cannot seem to connect to the hub at all. Yes, I am using the new IP address, but it does not seem to want to connect at all. My other friends seem to connect to the hub just fine at the same time that I am trying to connect, so I know the hub can't be down or having a power outage.

I've tried both DC and DC++.

From DC this is the following error message that I get:
Direct Connect 1.0 Preview Build 9.1
Connecting To 25.156.241.250:411
Disconnected From Hub

From DC++ this is what I get
*** Connecting to **.***.241.250...
*** Connection timeout
Obviously I left out the first 2 numbers in the IP in here for a reason.

I'b sharing over 2GB so I know it's not the file sharing that's the problem. I even tried rebooting my machine to see if maybe it was my connection, even though I can connect to the net just fine. Still, no go .. cannot connect

Please, can someone help... I would greatly appreciate it

what..??

jdat that thread is giving complemets to Bizz.

There was a dc problem thread but that went nowhere.. this is serious business. I have the same problem. Ok so please help and if not then don't reply. Simple..

Elucidating question: Can you connect to other hubs? If not, you're probably behind a proxy/firewall.

Oh yeah, there's no excuse for not using the existing thread - praise for Bizz will go there as well I think.

I downloaded this program called virus md personal firewall

it has many nice options about ports and stuff....I am too tired to do anymore. I been working on this problem for almost 6 hours and nothing. I guess i will have to give up or refortmat my comp??

Formatting your HD will most certainly not help you in any way - downloading and installing additional firewalls on your computer won't help matters either.

What you should check for is if your computer is connected directly to the Internet, or to some other computer which acts as a filter or cache only allowing certain IP-packets to pass between your computer and the rest of the world.
Such a computer is called a firewall or a proxy (depending on its function) and are very common annoying beasts encountered accessing the net through a LAN, as often found in dorms, companies, schools etc.

If this is the case your only option is tunneling, and if you decide to do this you will be a computer criminal (in addition to being a copyright violator for DLing the mp3s), and could suffer consequences varying from being kicked of the net to prosecution by the authorities if you are caught.

Socks2http and you'll have to use sockscap32 for DC to work. The input you need for gettting Socks2Http to work is the Internet Options->Connection->LAN settings from Internet Explorer. Remember that your school system administrator might get pissed if he/she finds out.

Posted by Trancealot on Sep-16-2002 15:11:

tranceaholic your actually getting me somwhere....I may need a better desription to get through this firewall if you know how to...maybe contact me

aim:flipi2i
icq-->169752627

I don't mind messing around with my comp setting if it hopefully works out for the best

now the hub says-->
*** Connecting to ??.???.241.250...
*** Connection refused by target machine

does that mean I am not registered????

I just got both programs....Socks2http --sockscap32

I don't want to play around with their setting unless you can help me on that...thanks

babylord
Myself(trancealot)
OMD-Space

add yourself to the list if you have the newest(correct) IP duhh
and still it says this

DC++
*** Connecting to ??.???.250...
*** Connected
This hub is running version 1.0.25 of the NeoModus Direct Connect Hub Software.
*** Connection reset by server

DC
Direct Connect 1.0 Preview Build 9.1
You are using Direct Connect in passive mode. Some features will not work, and you will not be able to connect to other users who are in passive mode.
Connecting To ??.???.241.250:411

maybe we can compare setting of out network or DC settings...Bizz says I am registered to this hub and 100% sure you other people who are having this problem are also.
This hub is running version 1.0.25 of the NeoModus Direct Connect Hub Software.
